Yeah, the whole cheat scenario on the 360 is asinine, considering they really think that gamers are pining for achievements. Screw that. There are some times where I don't have 80 hours to put into one game, but I want to check out all of the unlockables. Is it such a crime to use a game save to get those? If MS can distinguish that a save I use is from another gamertag (or console) to the point that they BAN SYSTEMS from Live, then how come they can't program it so that you DON'T get the achievements from someone else's save file in the first place?

Truly, they should open up the OS a bit more, since it is a hybrid Windows box to begin with.

Oh man this is ridiculous. First i would like to say i was a die hard sony fan since the PS first dropped. Second generation, sony again even though xbox had slightly better graphics on some games, their library of games just couldnot compete. It always comes down to the exclusive titles. Games like devil may cry 4 dont turn heads toward either company just b/c the graphics are better on the xbox 360. You can check Youtube out for split screen comparisons of games like Madden, Call of Duty 4, etc for those that want to make the shallow arguement about the graphics. There really is not that big o a difference. If it were like comparing ps1 first generation games to current ps2 games i could see the arguement but really that is a shallow fanboy thing.
By the way i now own a xbox 360 and elected not to buy a ps3 after waiting on a better lineup of games for the ps3 . I dont fanboy either system, it is all about the games and i just call it like i see it. Now i have also read a article made by a game developer who worked for EA. He mentioned that the xbox 360 isnot really more powerful than the ps3 as many people think. He says that the ps3 is actually has far superior potential with graphics and games once the software can be perfected.It just looks that way b/c it is easy to program for the 360 and then port games to the ps3. I am thinking like this guy. What will happen when they master programming for the ps3, thought games may take longer to make and cost more b/c more work was put in to making the game. I heard a lot of experts say that the xbox 360 will peak in potential while the ps3 has the potential to be a 10 year span console. Now with that said, I am not about to wait on sony. Yeah that got a great lineup of games scheduled for this year and i think it will really help them with their numbers. But as of right now the 360 has the edge with the big title exclusives. Someone earlier mention some great games on 360 but they forgot Bioshock. I have been hooked on this game like crack LOL. Mass effect 2, Gears of war 2, and a lot of other good games are to be released this year on the xbox 360. 360 also is currently the best system for RPGs such as Fable 2, Oblivion,Lost Odessey, Blue dragon. Ps3 will release MGS4, Resistance 2, Etc. this year so it will be about 360 showing it can counter every exculisive game ps3 drops with one of its own that will keep sales alive.

That's a sick package... I think it will attract a lot of people just because it comes with an actual good game...

Well, I bought my PS3 last weekend and I'm glad I did, because I don't care for MGS4. At least not now. And DS3 doesn't interest me either, so for $100 less, I got what I wanted (Don't care about the size of the HDD - at least not now, because when I do eventually want a larger one, it's going to be a lot larger than an 80GB, so I would have to replace it anyway). But I have a few friends who will jump on this deal. One of them is sick of the 360. He's returned it 4 times in a years time. In fact, the last one he returned was purchased in January. So I don't believe that the hardware issues were 100% fixed. And that's really what I want to see. Who wants to spend money on a console that has a 50% or 30% chance that it will fail. Heck, if they told me that there was only a 10% chance that it would fail, then I wouldn't get it.

And I've waited for the 360 to improve. I played it often at my friends house, liked the look and feel of it, liked XBL, etc. And I held out for as long as I could. After my friends last failure (and the recent bluray win) I decided to write it off and go with the PS3. Looking forward to installing Yellowdog 6.0 tonight and seeing what features I can mess around with and customize. I see great things for the PS3. The hack forums are active and there are some exciting things on the horizon. PS3 ftw!

The red PSP slim bundle is awesome, sold! Only complain is that the bundle will be available in June, not March when GoW:CoO is released, ah the horror!

Already enjoying the PS3, but the new 80gb PS3 bundle sounds cool. Probably getting another one?

Wii is not getting any play lately at all... Beat Super Mario Galaxy and kinda gave up on Zelda and Metro Prime. Mini games are fun for parties, but i don't host parties every weekends.

X360 is okay... The 2nd unit is not giving me any problems (RRoD on the first), but i'm crossing my fingers. I love Gears, finished it and currently playing Rainbow Six in preparation for March's part two. It's a great game, but quite buggy (one part in the Dante's hotel, textures are missing on the wall renderings, i scratched my head on this bug b/c everything looks so "weird" after an intense battle). I hate the loading time though...

Overall, the PS3 is the best for the cash i spent on (Wii is not cheap, extra three Wiimotes cost you another $100 or more, i got them used and on sale). I like the X360, but hate the RRoD reputation and the fees to pay for on-line play. I was shot down for a demo download, can you believe that? (silver members can't download a demo when it first released).

Ack, I can't say that a $400 PC runs all that well with sharp GFX... besides, I would rather having something that looks sharp in my audio cabinet, uses a remote, hooks up to my HDTV and receiver without extras needed (HDMI, SPDIF) and play media over my network, PLUS be a gaming machine, then in terms of value a $300+ console would be far better than a $400 budget Sempron/Celeron system that needs to be patched and updated frequently.

Whether that console is a 360 or PS3, I wish one of them would get their head out of their *** and allow all types of media to playback, like XBMC will allow. (With the exception of HD formats, since the hardware is too dated for those files.)

Who thinks that? I know I don't. You only need to look at the specifications to see that isn't true. The PS3 is more advanced and powerful. I know the 360 fan boys wont like this but this is a PS3 news article at the end of the day.

Not really to many bottlenecks in it, what it dose have is enough polish on the hardware to smooth out the issues in the software and vice versa.

Zippy it's obvious that you are a PC gamer and rarely have anything positive to say about console gaming. I personally feel that a console is superior in every way to a PC for gaming but that is my opinion and you obviously have yours.

I call it like I see it sorry if it offends that console gamings being raped and fed to the masses happily oblivious the fact they are paying more for less, its not so much console gaming but the fact that the corporate mentality over gaming has gone from simi polished projects to mostly cash in titles.

There has been some changes in dev houses, capcom for instance a once endlessly cashing in brand has been leaning to gamepaly over cash in, DMC 3 and 4 do not suck, Dead raising was good albeit different they polished up the main RE line, sure they still have cash in knock offs but at least the main game lines do not suffer from it.

I wish more devs lent to polish over rush jobs I hope the next castlvana installment dose not blow but it seems Konami has not woke up like capcom has, square too could learn from this FF12 is broken.....

Just to be clear the corporations used the console market as a spam market to push off alot of buggy and underpar stuff they used it to gain power and momentum and squashed a lot of creativity in the industry in the late 90s/early 2K, this had lead to a focus of form over substance in gaming and tis still that today but tis no worse than hollywod because there are still new games that do not suck.

Just for comparasion Crysis V Bioshock, BS is lackluster IMO but so is Crysis it might come out 1 point more for control and AI polish but the game dose not evolve its the same gameplay starting gameplay mechanics throughout the whole game if it had a story that was the level of FEAR then maybe it would be abit better.

Trust me I am not bashing just the consoles over quality :P

Another thing the PS3 dose haz a bottleneck even so the hardware has enough polish on it to limit that throughput limit, the 360 is a few rungs behind mainly do to the piss job of design and manufacturing.

The 360 could easily be the PS3's eaqul if the hardware was not locked and broken.

And the WII is still a gimmick once it has about 10 games on it worth playing it will become a real game system.

I have too, I played with my 360 for about 3 months, then bought a ps3 played it for a month then sold my 360.

sure i have a 360 and got bored of it failin and having to send it back in again and again

it has some awesome games but got tired of paying to play online wtf
and the one game i hoped would be good sucked, HALO 3 has a boring
@$$ single player but a great online but got blown away by COD4

I wasted my money on the 360 but with this new bundle I'll sell my 360 to some loser and pick up a ps3

i should have stayed with sony makes me love my ps1 and ps2 now the ps3
and i love my psp lol

Anyway I've been looking forward to the DS3 being released in NA for a while now, the SixAxis controllers are good, don't get me wrong but they wear out really fast. The Dualshocks are suppose to be better constructed so I'm waiting till April to get a DS3 because i'm not wasting my money on another SixAxis if its just gonna wear out in a few months.

There always gonna be comparisons and thus lead to the flamings... I'm looking for the US release of the DS3 as well. Not that the Asian version doesn't work or anything, i just want to buy from a B&M store (store credits and exchange privileges). The SixAxis is okay, i don't have tearing and wearing problem and i played God of War 1 and 2 with it (i don't have a PS2, so i used the PS3 finishing those two games). Hmmm, are you referring to the battery life? I don't have problems with that either... since it got no rumbles, i rarely need to recharge the Sixaxis (until long hours of PJ Monster). Of course, it makes no sense to buy another Sixaxis for $40-$50 while the DS3 is around the corner... I'll have that ceramic white DS3...

Played MGS1 on PC it was FANTASTIC. but when I tried MGS2 on PC it was such a horible port that I gave up immediately. That spoiled a bit on MGS series but :D I saw some very neet treilers of MGS4 and its definetly on my 'must try' list :D

So there's no point in upgrading my PC for a while. I have a decent rig and can play Assassins Creed and COD4 at low-medium settings, and not at 1680x1050. But by playing them on my HDTV with no lag and how they are meant to be played is worth it to me. I'm not arguing with your point. Just providing my point of view.

If the 360 was not a broken and failing PC with prioritized software and nazistic hardware mentalities you point would have been made better.

Vista is no more unstable than the 360 really, it all depends on if you know what you are doing with it but only 1 game so far requires vista and thats Shadow 'duurrr I am shooter mmo' run, the rest can run on XP.

I was comparing purchasing a PC with purchasing a console (PS3 or 360). Vista is unstable in everything else that it's supposed to do. There are a number of reasons I wouldn't buy Vista. And they have nothing to do with gaming. Yeah, I know XP can run the other games, but I still haven't seen a DX9 game on XP run as smooth at max settings at max resolution as either of those consoles. They look nice and play well, but there is noticeable difference. To me at least.
