Nintendo Company, Ltd. is a Japanese games company, established in 1889 (yes, that's right..) by Fusajiro Yamauchi.

Company dominated the game console industry in 1980s and early 1990s with its super-popular consoles, NES and SNES. After those two runaway successes, company lost much of its market share in "living room consoles" first to Sony and later to Microsoft. Despite company seeing its market share in "living room consoles" to slip, it has maintained its market-leading position in handheld consoles by regularly upgrading its Gameboy series. However, even this segment is now under serious attack, as Sony entered to the handheld gaming with its Playstation Portable console.
