PlayStation 3 firmware updates to 2.0DVDBack23 @ Nov 08, 2007 23:31 | 12 comments
That feature will give any PSP owner the access to content on their PS3 hard drive from anywhere. Users will also have the ability to create an unlimited amount of music and photo playlists. There could however be a catch. Many reports are saying that to use the feature, you will also be required to run the cooling fan constantly.
Another couple of more minor features are enhancements to the XMB interface which will allow for customization of the background and color.
Additionally, "a information board feature has been added that would keep users up to date on new PlayStation news, a new PlayStation Network category, and Trend Micro Web Security, which is provided free of charge until April of next year."

The whole reason all these systems are around and have so many games is because game makers didnt have to worry about what you had in your system to get the full effect of the game they made. cause if you had the system that they made the game for (lets say the nes) it was the same as all the other million systems that were in the homes of gamers. Now we're looking at a PS3 and a XBOX 360 that dont come with all you need to get the full effect of a game rite out of the box. You got to go and drop more cash for a HDD or a Firmwear update or any other crap that just makes it hard for the gamer who didnt pay his rent this month just to get the newest system to play that new systems games cause all he could afford was the core system with nothing to apply full power gaming. So now these "NEXT GEN" systems are nothin but over priced, usless except for playing games PC'S |

The ps3 at this point in time is estimated to use only 30% of its total processing power, but what will happen when they try and incrementally jack it up to full power? The heat sinks won’t change and the cooling fan can only do so much, I just hope Sony planned for this eventuality better than MS did. |

You'd spend the same amount or less in a Next Gen video console. I'd much rather keep the gaming where it belongs - video game consoles, and the computing where it belongs - PC's. |

Being somewhat of a PC geek, knowing the amount of money to spend on a pc running 2gb or more processor speed with atleast 1gb of memory, a good dolby digital sound card, a good enough video card, and not to mention all the BS software you need to have everything run right on a Microsoft Pc (havent dealt much with a MAC) ur looking at a $1000. you can get one less than that but that would require cheap not-so reliable manufactured parts shipped from Timbuktwo.(spell check) Oh and thats not including a monitor. And the issues with a PC, if you do anything else, it would cause the pc to eventually run slow and cause the game play to lag over time even without being online. It continues to consistantly costs extra to just keep a pc maintained. There is no BASE price for a PC these days, When you can pay a set price for any console. Really it all plays out the same way. your gonna spend almost the same amount of money to add to the enjoyment no matter what device you are using. With a Pc, your really building your own PS3 over time with each hardware upgrade. But who is gonna take the time out to calculate the difference in cost of a PC purchase with all needed accessories and a console with all its needed acessories? I know I dont want to, becuase I have two pc's in my home to maintain and now Im trying to add everythign i can to the PS3 to make it appealing. I dont want to know how much im spending. Not being able to pay the rent because of it is money mis-managment and bad decisions. The way to fix it all is to be able to afford it. It wont seem like such a lose. But on the other hand, the PS3 might just start over heating. We will see how good these internal parts for the PS3 really is in the not so distant future. You shouldnt have to add accesories to keep your console maintained. then it will turn into a pc. I jsut want to pop a game in and play. Its a convenienve to those who like to watch movies jsut as much.
