Microsoft denies Natal launch date rumors

DVDBack23 @ Nov 18, 2009 19:13 | 9 comments

Last week we reported the rumor that Microsoft's upcoming Project Natal motion sense device was set for a November 2010 launch, along with a cheap £30-50 price tag.

Today, Microsoft has denied the rumors, claiming they are "not accurate."

After launching the Xbox 360 autumn update with Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm and Zune Video, Xbox 360 UK president Neil Thompson was asked about the Natal launch day reports. "No. They weren’t accurate, they were rumours. I’ve got nothing more to say about it".

Adding: "We’re still very much in the baking on Natal and there’s a lot of things to get decided on it."

Xbox 360 head of Europe Chris Lewis added (speaking to GI.biz): "Now you know better than to listen to that stuff! We will announce in good time."

ha ha ha...we know better than to listen to executives trying to plug leaks. If he'stelling the truth, then it's because the release date is either October or December 2010.

hope it doesn't fall apart like the last launched system. hope they learn from the RROD and try and not rush it!

Yea, they should do what they did with windows 7, they learned their lesson with Vista, so i'm expecting the next system to be pretty reliable.

I am a PS3 user/fan what ever, but give it a break.
That MS made a mistake with RROD that doesnt mean that everything after that is or will be faulty.

Maybe not everything is faulty...but we are still talking about microsoft here. If it were not for the new availability of OEM linux machines, windows 7 would probably be just as broken as vista.

Also, this is not a new system; it is an accessory for the system. It still might be junk, as microsoft can't seem to figure out how to make a quality keyboard or mouse...let alone a motion capture system.

I hate to say this but Killerbug is right. Microsoft has quality issues. I hope i'm wrong and this thing will be awesome but we can only wait and see,

I agree with you guys. Listen, wouldn't it make more sense to do a sit and wait approach have Sony to release their motion add-on, have Microsoft fix whatever remaining kinks for Natal, and then release it at a "reasonable" price. You would think that they would learn something from the RROD ordeal, since alot of XBOX owners are already pissed off at the so-called successful console that Microsoft is still plaguing owners with errors on their consoles. After all, a flashing red light on a console (or even for the Natal) is not exactly a message to be sending to console owners. Thats one of the reasons why I don't have an XBOX already in my home. The ratio is still a little high to get a busted one, and too much of a hassle as it is to get a replacement. Think before you leap Microsoft. You cannot afford to make another mistake again!! - BLUEBOY

Their products have always been somewhat shoddy at best.

Yeah...windows 7 is far from perfect, but it is so much better than everything else that microsoft makes that it is getting golden reviews from almost everyone.
