Toys 'R' Us starts video game trade-in program

DVDBack23 @ Sep 13, 2009 20:33 | 6 comments

Toy retailer Toys "R" Us has announced the launch of a videogame trade-in program, one that will be available in all of its stores throughout the US.

The program itself will be similar to that of GameStop's, as well as Best Buy's, who accept games via vending machines or through sales desks.

Gift cards for the chain are given in exchange for the used games, which can be from literally every system you own, including Atari 2600, PlayStation, PlayStation2, Xbox, Nintendo Game Boy, Nintendo 64, Nintendo NES, Intellivision and Sega Genesis.

"The video game trade-in program is another way we're providing customers with additional value when they visit our stores," added Bill Lee, the company's VP and divisional merchandise manager. "This program is designed to make the exchange process completely hassle-free for customers by accepting games from even the oldest systems."

The trade-in program beings today, with ads circulating in newspapers and online.

I wonder how much I can get for my 2600 carts!

Ahhhhh the 2600, cutting edge in 1978. With a working console I bet you get more on ebay as collectors item than in a store, even without I'm sure you would get more for them.

Yeah, I have a big collection of 2600 & 5200 & intelivision games (in their boxes), also have the working consoles and lots of controlers. They are all in a pile of boxes next to my "IBM Personal Portable Computer" and my coin collection from when I was a kid.

Ten years ago, everyone told me to toss all this junk (excpet the coin collection)...now it is all collectable! I just wish I still had my appleII...I hear they are worth some serious money these days, I sold mine for $25 when I got my 486dx2.

why don't people just use craigs list, ebay, swap with friends & avoid these corps that give you little & charge high for pre-owned titles, it may take a little longer but at least you get a fair deal?

ppl now have been brain washed by advertising into believing that they need things "now" or they will exploded. pre ordering lmao only brainwashed morons would purchase something based on advertisers before public scrutiny.

things & people are very sad.

you got to understand, people are just stupid they like paying alot for stuff. I hate 80% of the people in this world and 19% are just plain idiots and 1% of the people are cool. I am one of the 1%. join me. Fight the man, trade ebay.

Yeah toysrus will just resell the games for big profits and in return give you literally nothing.
