The documents show the new console having a retail price of $399 USD and coming bundled with Spider-Man 3 on Blu-ray disc. The console will have an early November launch date.
Previous models of the PS3 have FCC product numbers of CECHA01 and CECH01, respectively and last week Sony filed documents with the FCC for a product with the number CECHG01, sparking a flood of rumors that a new model was coming soon.
More information when the new model is confirmed.

If this news is true it’s now a better value for the money then the Premium 360 with HDMI and you still want to bitch. No overheating problem to worry about either. The new chip in the 360, if you can find one with the new chip, has not been proven to be trouble free…… YET.

Comment by: kyo28 (Oct 03, 2007 04:02) I also don't see any reason to complain regarding Sony anymore. They are lowering the price low enough, considering what's under the hood. On top of that, you get a working console with very low chances of breaking down, unlike one of its competitors.

Maybe I study the pro's and con's very carefull before making a decision, but that is because I own a home, have 2 kids and I'm expecting a new kid this coming Summer, so I budget carefully. When I compare a M$ bundle with a PS3 bundle, the M$ bundle is more attractive. Since I don't want a bluray movie, the bundle is worthless to me. I am interested in getting the most for my dollar, like most people are. I don't see Sony becoming the same price as the 360 anytime soon, since in certain aspects, it is a more superior piece of hardware. Since the PS3 is still more expensive after the price drop, I would still have to shell out more more $$$ to get controllers and games. If a game was bundled, that's one less thing I need to open my wallet for, so I would personally feel like I was getting something worthwhile for that pricetag. A controller would be even better. I find wireless controllers very expensive. It took me a while to buy them all for my PS2.

Comment by: spydah (Oct 03, 2007 16:01) All ima say is isnt this what so many people been crying for. They are finally willing to lower their standard to get down to the customers request for a cheaper PS3 system. I didnt read every comment knowing that most of the PS3 bashers/haters whom always come out when their is a positive PS3 article would find a reason to hate this. Also to those worried about the HD space you can always upgrade a PS3 hard drive your self so thats not a big deal the big deal is how low they will make this price so be happy that they are willing to do this because i am. |
Comment by: DjDanio (Oct 03, 2007 16:03) Quote:Quote: Sony should change the layout of their compatibility page, it looks there are only about 20 games per letter. MAybe something that says there are currently xxxxx fully compatible, xxxxxx with minor issues, xxx with major issues. This would be more useful, and a search facility. |
Comment by: spydah (Oct 03, 2007 16:22) Originally posted by djeazyg: I agree with you. I do have HD-Tv's but i could careless for a Spiderman 3 Blu-ray movie. A controller or game would be perfect to introduce this system with the price drop. Sony is to caught up on winning a format war then making their system a dominate one. Its true that it will be around for a long time but still the whole point of making a game system should be to introduce better quality games rather then focusing on movies. Hopefully if this rumor is true I will get one of these before they change their minds. |

Comment by: OFI (Oct 05, 2007 02:35) 40GB should be more than enough. The frequency at which new demos find their way onto the PS3 Store ensures you'll never fill the hdd anyway.... |
Comment by: sirksam (Oct 05, 2007 06:27) This is a pretty good deal actually, the only thing I have an issue with the PS3, is that in Australia, PS3 games are hell expensive, they cost 120 dollars (90 US dollars)! Besides that, pretty good I reckon. |
Comment by: borhan9 (Oct 09, 2007 23:12) this would be a good startup machine for begginers in gaming. |
