40GB PlayStation 3 coming to the US in November?DVDBack23 @ Oct 08, 2007 22:50 | 42 comments
Citing an "industry source" as well as a major game retailer, the Reporter says the 40GB model will retail for $400 USD and have the same features as its brother model in the UK meaning less USB ports and no backwards compatibility for PS2 games.
Last week we reported that leaked Best Buy internal documents showed the 40GB model was coming to the US but without a price or release date. The Reporter says it will hit the US by early November.

I know alot of underground gamers like full round compatibility or just able to play their older games on a newer system, but Sony is losing game sale so I guess they are trying to boost sales with no PS2 able to play on the PS3. I think the price is worth getting a PS3 that I might be doing now since the price has gone down enough......Oh btw go 360 |

Your buying a PS3 not PS2,must people already own a PS2 so keeping it would be good but all the major titles are coming to PS3 not PS2.Some people on this board never had any intent to buy a PS3 from the start, thats why they are whining like a little girl.Do us all a favor if you no going to buy one just shut-up & don't post. There are a lot of people that are looking forward to buying this system like me. |

I refuse to put up with the anal carnage corporate mentality, either they deliver or I boycott their sorry asses. |

Not even the fan club. You guys really need a hobby. You all could try playing video games. Works for me. Oh... Sorry... I see your too busy complaining about them to play them. |
Comment by: ZippyDSM (Oct 09, 2007 17:06) Quote:Originally posted by 24Lover: Well teh fact of the matter is we are gettign a 400-500 range PS3 and its reasonable to see that it will be the 40 no BWC PS3,since its a fact europe got the no hardware BWC PS3 first, if they can sale well at a higher price and lower features there they can do it anywhere it seems..... |
Comment by: OhCrap (Oct 09, 2007 17:49) Quote:Originally posted by 24Lover: Actually its listed at 229.88 on amazon and in the description it doesn't say it includes a 7th gen hd gaming system. Go figure. So for the money 400 still ain't bad. |
Comment by: ZippyDSM (Oct 09, 2007 18:00) and for about 450 you can hobble together a 360 with a HDVD player :P

Comment by: emugamer (Oct 10, 2007 12:28) PS2 games look like crap on a high def television. Regardless of the [sarcastic]upscaling[/sarcastic] that can be done. And you really can't fully appreciate a PS3 game on a standard television. I'm sure that Sony realizes that more and more homes will be going the way of HDTV as time passes. People will realize that the backwards compatibility will look like garbage and not even care anymore. The PS3 is a high def piece of hardware made for high def viewing. Who cares if there are less USB ports? Unless somwhere down the line they are used for a popular game, and for some reason, Sony fails to remember that they cut out some ports and a lot of people would not be able to play the game. |

Comment by: CODEWERKS (Oct 14, 2007 06:13) why not just get any PS3 and get a large capacity sata notebook hd? i have no ideas as how to tramsfer data from an existing PS3 hd to a high capacity one, but before i even turned on my new PS3 i installed a 160gb. what i fear is that in one of the upcoming mandatory updates we will all loose backward compatability. |
Comment by: ZippyDSM (Oct 14, 2007 14:24) Originally posted by CODEWERKS: Sony is back tracking on what the PS3 should be, I can easily see them limiting HDD size and linking it to a upgrade kit or worse yet a premium PSN plan, sony needs to step off the throats users befor its to late. |
