The first-of-its-kind broadband entertainment network, GameTap announced the first annual "E3 2006 GameTap Picks". GameTap collected its nominees for 20 categories from the E3Expo show. The winners have been selected, and here is the list:

Best Adventure Game: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GC/Wii) – Nintendo/Nintendo

Best Action Game: Assassin’s Creed (PS3) – Ubisoft/Ubisoft Montreal

Best Platform Game: Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) – Nintendo/Nintendo

Best Shooter: Prey (Xbox 360/PC) – 2K Games/3D Realms – Human Head

Best Fighting Game: Yakuza (PS2) – SEGA/Amusement Vision

Best Strategy Game: Warhammer Mark of Chaos (PC) – Namco Bandai/Black Hole Entertainment – Cinegi Productions

Best Simulation Game: Spore (PC) – EA/Maxis

Best Puzzle Game: Capcom Puzzle World (PSP) – Capcom/Capcom

Best Role-Playing Game: TIE! Justice League Heroes (multiplatform) – Warner Bros. International/Snowblind Studios

Best Role-Playing Game: TIE! Marvel Ultimate Alliance (multiplatform) – Activision/Raven Software

Best Racing Game: Full Auto 2: Battlelines (PS3) – SEGA/Pseudo Interactive

Best Sports Game: Wii Sports (Wii) – Nintendo/Nintendo

Best Kids/Family Game: LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (multiplatform) – LucasArts/Traveler’s Tales

Best MMO: Huxley (Xbox 360/PC) – Webzen/Webzen

Best Portable: New Super Mario Bros. (DS) – Nintendo/Nintendo

Best Game We Want To Play NOW: Guitar Hero II (PS2) – RedOctane/Harmonix

Best Overall: Spore (PC) – EA/Maxis

Best Surprise: Wii controller - Nintendo

Best Announcement: Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) – Nintendo/Nintendo

Best Booth: Webzen

Best Swag: Slime keychain – Square Enix
