The release of the PSP's almost 8GB storage raise is welcome for the fans of portable media devides, as the original PSP could barely hold a few songs.
As the earlier speculated microdrive version of PSP has been superseded by the NADN flash version, the launch can be delayed by Sony, as it might be halting the collaboration with Samsung for now. The halt is explained by the present cost of the flash memory, for it is obvious that the end user cost for it would raise far higher than acceptable by consumers.
Sony is not commenting to these reports, but it should be evident that the increase of storage capacity is necessary for PSP to improve its status as a multimedia device.

Rumors hold that the disappointment in PSP storage capacity will have an end probably before the end of 2006. As reported in the internet, an 8BG NAND flash version of the portable device will be supported by Samsung Electronics, "Website Digitimes.com has cited "market sources" as divulging that such a machine, containing 8GB NAND flash from Samsung Electronics, will put in an appearance in the second half of 2006."
