Kinect hacked to run on PlayStation 3

DVDBack23 @ Mar 20, 2011 21:36 | 2 comments

CrunchGear has reported this weekend that the Kinect motion control system has been hacked to run on the PlayStation 3.

In the video, the hacker connects the Kinect to his laptop, running the PrimeSense drivers.

The drivers are "then converted into raw tracking data and reconverted into PS3-compliant data via DIYPS3Controller, used (naturally) to control your PS3 via your PC. This is sent to the PS3 in the form of normal controller movements (analog stick pressure, buttons and all," says the source.

it is unclear if any games will actually be workably playable via the hack.

*sigh, HA MS might sue or even Sony since Sony wants people to use their Move controllers to play on their games/consoles even though it's unclear if the game works for it.

Microsoft won't sue...they are very hacker friendly these days; they even released a toolkit to help the hackers use the kinect in other ways. Sony, well, they might sue...after all, their latest user agreement says that you cannot use any controller that is not licensed by sony...and this clearly isn't.
