PS2 playback headed back to PS3 via peripheral?DVDBack23 @ Sep 16, 2010 05:12 | 36 comments
The new patent filed by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan shows off a "Compatibility Adapter," a peripheral that contains necessary parts to playback PS2 games, but will work when attached to a PS3.
When the PS3 launched in 2006, gamers were given full hardware backward compatibility, but later versions of the console removed the hardware and added software-based emulation instead.
Sony later removed all backward compatibility, in an effort to shed costs.
While the peripheral is interesting, there cannot be too many people still wanting to play PS2 games out there, especially as the console reaches the very end stages of its life.

The only gross generalization is thinking that because you and your friends want to play PS2 games on the PS3 that 35 million other owners do, as well.

Only about 0.5% wanted a second link to the PSN store, but there it is. Only about 80% want cross-game-chat, and we still don't have it.

Peace!

Comment by: Gnawnivek (Sep 17, 2010 19:52) True... not all trophies/achievements are meaningful. There's absolutely no reason to hate them though, even if you don't collect any at all. The wording of some trophies/achievements are funny as hell, it's like free little side jokes come with the game if you want to look at it that way. Metal Deer Solid in Cabela games, isn't that cute :)
Peace!
