Sony announces PS3s with larger HDDs

Sony has announced two new updated models of their PlayStation 3 gaming console, each of which has a larger hard drive (HDD) than current models.

The 120GB model will be replaced by a 160GB model, and the 250GB model will be replaced by a 320GB model, each selling for the same price that the current models do.

Sony's new 160GB model will sell for $300.

The 320GB model will be bundled with PS3 Sports Champions Move, with a price tag of $400. Sony's bundle comes with a PS Eye, a Move controller, Sports Champions and a bonus BD demo disc.

Both will become available on September 19th.

Why can't they offer a PS3 without a harddrive? It's considerably cheaper to just buy my own.

Wait...they don't even offer 500GB drives yet? An what is more, their next version that is focused on hard disk space does not offer 500GB either?

Honestly, I haven't even used up my 60GB drive on my PS3 yet, so whats the f-in point in a bigger one? What they should do is allow the PS3 to have 320GB drives without that stupid move bundle and sell it at a lower cost. That 160GB model should be selling for $200-$250 imo as well as it adds no added value to the consumer, and 40GB is no added value to the current 120 model.

Two reasons: because they can and also drive persons like me and you nuts cause we need that space for all of our movies, music, game downloads, etc. 500GB would be future-proof for at least a couple of years even if you're data heavy.

What do you do with your PS3? I have 500 Gb and right now I have like 180 Gb free. before I had 80 Gb and I was always urging for space and had to install and uninstall and it wasa pain.

why ?! just get a Bigger HDD for your current PS3. any laptop HDD will work. 500GB is easy.

and Sony.. Next Model Add PS2 Hardware to make it play PS2 Games.
