Xbox 360 802.11n adapter now on saleDVDBack23 @ Nov 10, 2009 21:14 | 16 comments
The new adapter should provide much more bandwidth then the current line of 802.11g adapters and will use MIMO (multiple in, multiple out) and two antennas to provide a stronger signal and extended range. Microsoft says the new adapters will have double the range of the 802.11g adapters.
Electronista adds that the "adapter is also dual-band and can run on 5GHz to avoid interference as well as 2.4GHz for those with older 802.11n routers or who have to run a mixed-mode network to support legacy devices."
The device sells for between $88-100 USD.

Comment by: gallagher (Nov 11, 2009 00:10) I have an n router, and the older adapter for the 360. My connection is terrible and I am in the room right over from the router with my 360. It must be whatever is in the walls, because my laptop also has trouble sometimes. Maybe this would be better. |

Comment by: KillerBug (Nov 11, 2009 08:45) Antenna design is also very important. You don't need a big or expensive antenna, just one (or more) that are made smartly. WiFi will work from miles away with the right antennas...even with a cheap, half-broken router. If you have some copper wire and a few empty soda cans, you can made a biquad or quadquad antenna that works better than most $50 units. |
Comment by: TBandit (Nov 11, 2009 12:23) and it costs the same as the original wireless adapter go figure. |
Comment by: ZippyDSM (Nov 11, 2009 16:46) Wireless N is also limited in range... then again it could be becuse I have a sucky router :P but the G stuff seems twice as long. |
