Obviously there are more than 2 games coming out for the 360 (I did forget LFD whoops) but the only BIG games are the 2 I mentioned. But please add to the discussion what the additional games that you know of so as to show us this great lineup.

Meanwhile I will do the same to show just a few of the NEW exclusives (since both of us can count multiplatform titles as a wash) are available this holiday season for the PS3.

Most would agree and think so, but the price cut for the 360 in Europe only raised it's sales for a very short period (couple weeks or so?) which really didn't help change anything in the overall picture. While in the US it as done nothing spectacular equally so.

Meanwhile they lost their 10 Million console lead over Nintendo & Sony, where passed by the Wii to the current tune of well over 10 Million and the PS3 is closing steadily to be within +/- 4 Million (about) with it's consistent sales while being the most expensive competitor!

This holiday season is going to be close between only Sony & MS and neither side is going to "run away with it". When 2009 hits the same trend will prove what it has for the past 2 years,

MS losing ground fast
Sony gaining ground slow
Nintendo pulling away at light speed


Even going by VGChatz (which has been proven to be WAAY off and biased) shows the 360 only to hold a big lead in the US. In Japan it's last and in Europe it is too close to say it has a "lead" over the PS3. So to take account of sales for each year 2006, 2007 & 2008 seperately it looks like this (I know I have posted this before but I have revised the second part below)

Wii-
1st America
1st Europe
1st Japan

PS3-
3rd America
2nd Europe
2nd Japan

360-
2nd America
3rd Europe
3rd Japan

Wii = 1st with all 1st places
PS3 = 2nd with 2 / 2nd places & 1 3rd (but gaining every month)
360 = 3rd with 2 / 3rd places and 1 / 2nd


But the TOTALS for all years cumulative changes things but only ever so slightly which again supports MS's loss of ground

1st America
1st Europe
1st Japan

PS3-
3rd America
Tied Europe
2nd Japan

360-
2nd America
Tied Europe
3rd Japan

Wii = 1st with all 1st places
PS3 = Tied
360 = Tied

For all this "doom and gloom" in the mass media press for the PS3 it sure seems that the blinders are on when the 360 is discussed and over viewed (not towards you varnull just in general). Now granted the 360 has double the amount of "consoles" in the US (but we can't confirm exactly because of RROD's) over only the PS3 that is all MS can say. What about how as of late the Euro scene for Sony & Nintendo growing exponentially and their sales #'s showing higher attachment rates for the PS3 and sheer numbers of Wii's being sold daily? The over seas market as a whole is undoubtedly giving the US a run for it's money and looking to keep gaming a hot commodity.

I also see way too much misinformation where people only use the US as their slide rule. This can't be anymore incorrect, and is why I think I get ostracized/attacked because of they way I see it. The whole picture needs to be seen not just a pinhole view of it...

Exactly. We have thousands of people who come here to aD everyday to not only get their news fix but to ACTUALLY help others and contribute. That is the kind of aD'er anyone can respect. Those who only troll, disregard forum rules and don't/haven't contributed really have no reason to complain when aD'ers can't/wont takes them seriously.

On topic: The slowdown of ps3 sales in Japan is most likely a combination of two things.
1. Most gamers in Japan probably already own a ps3 and the numbers are naturally dropping due to saturation.
2. MS is finally wising up and making games that appeal specially to JP gamers and taking a piece of the pie.

Off topic: I believe it was stated a by several people in this thread that the 360 is cheaper and therefore parents would be more likely to chose it over the ps3. Despite this being true with the initial purchase the needed/optional add on's can potentially raise the price to well over $400.

I still don't own any of the current gen consoles, right now I'm sifting through the old ps2/ps1 games and I'm quite satisfied. ATM I'm playing gta 3 and FF tactics. I plan on buying god of war 1 and 2 and completing my FF collection by buying FF 9 and playing it through again.

It's sad to think but yes I'm one of the very few people waiting for a confirmed lot # for the jasper 360 chipset. I don't know a single person who owns a ps3; all of my friends either have or want a 360. After buying a battery charging kit, an ethernet cable, and a live subscription that's just about $400. I know the games library is a point of contention for most people but to me it's the discount on older games that draws me to the 360. I might buy one new release but aside from that why should I pay $60 for a game? There are a handful of new releases for both systems but when it comes down to it most of the older games are multi-platform and they are cheaper on the 360.

The economy is only going to get worse and it’s really hitting those who are just starting out on their own the hardest. Jobs are hard to find and everyone I know is terrified of being fired. Let’s face it life sucks and distractions are needed to forget about the current state of things.

Both consoles are doing what they need to do to be successful. Sony has dropped their price $200 from the original price and MS has dropped the core $150 from the original price. MS has paid to have a good exclusive game released in Japan and it is paying off. Both consoles are over the 10,000,000 sold mark now and that is a prime # that developers look for. Being happy when your console of choose does well is fine and understood. Getting excided about bad news on the console that you did not choose to go with is childish. Be happy with what you have. Enjoy what you have. I have decided to stick with the PS3 for reasons that I don't feel like arguing about. Plenty of good games coming out now and in the future. I'm sure the same can be said about the 360.
I would love to have GOW2 and I know that 360'ers would love to have RFOM2. Neither one is going to get everything that they want. Enjoy what you have and don't worry about anyone else.

If over 90 PS3 (YES, NINETY) EXCLUSIVES aren't games, then you have some problems. Not really insulting you but you need to do your research before you comment. Also i dont label too many people as a fanboy nor do i consider you to be one but if you make a comment supporting your opinion or sometimes even with posting facts, someone is bound to try and label you. Those are the ones who cant handle the truth. Kinda like if i were to say "Only idiots play MGS4". To me that is fanboyish. If a person has actually taken the time to play a game and its not the hottest game to them it would sound a lot more intelligent to just say ,"I didnot really care for the game." Just my opinion as a read a post similiar in words here.

I really dont see that there is much diff in the games for either of the more powerful consoles. I do believe that the xbox360 being cheaper is not as big a determining factor in buying the console as the PS3 is being expensive. If Sony ever gets the price down on the PS3 or if it were the same as the xbox360, i think we would see a notable diff in sales. Sony's library is getting better over time and i wondering how sales will look once some really anticipated titles are released on PS3 like socum, gow3, etc...I know people say PS3 price is a great deal when you consider what you are getting and i can see that but a lot of gamers are not willing to pay that much and its not always to do with a person not being able to afford the PS3. I honestly admit the price is the only thing that has kept me away so far. Well, that and my priorities that have changed with age.

If tekken 6 were out at launch i would have already bought a PS3 but from what i have read through multiple sites recently Tekken 6 will be multiplatform excluding the Wii that is. Thats a exclusive lost that could have help sell more PS3s.

1) GTA4 #1 in game sales in Japan is a pretty amazing change

Wow. "NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with the weekly sales figures article" So you are saying that what I have posted is not about sales figures for the last few weeks which is what the topic is about? I posted it here since it IS about sales for the last few weeks and there is no NEW news about the SAME topic. Which I do find amazing on how you don't/didn't have the same disdained fervor when a certain other character continually changes topic on a DAILY basis which has been proven time & time & time again.

Why/how does this "$ony payroll" comment pop up when there is absolutely no truth behind it, no proof & only conjecture? I think certain people need to have a look at some of my old tutorials, this will show I am in no way affiliated with ANY console maker. Anyone familiar with the PS2 section can confirm that.

Either way if anyone has anything to say to me that is off topic please PM me. I am 100% sure I can prove to them there is no such thing as this "payola". I have only given real truthful information available to EVERYONE on the net or in the news within my posts as I always have. The sources & paper trails support what information I have offered. The same cannot be said about those who have been reprimanded and have been proven to spew unsupported BIAS for & against certain manufacturers on numerous occasions...
