WOW its such a relief that more peeps are like me I love both my systems (PS3,X360)each has its ups and downs(I can't think of any rite now)Wait my 360 is out for the 4th repair but I STILL LOVE IT and have NO BAD FEELINGS about it. The PS3 has had NO problems I just never use it because of LACK OF GAMES. But I understand.
IF you can't afford a top notch system, then buy a Wii, you will be happy with you choice. Or you can wait till the PS4 and Xbox come out and buy the old PS3 and X360. Then you can cry about your $150(mistake) My $599 and $499 was WELL spent

Sega was at the top of their game then had to switch out of the console market,its true it will take more than the PS3 failing for them to leave it,in the end the PS3 dose need a life boat,its not goign to do well as a "elite machine" MS has managed to do well with its elite niche I do not think sony will do so well they want it to sale thus they have a fit every quarter and change the unit.

They really need to simply drop everythign and focus on maxim lowest price,fist off drop WIFI and the card reader their extra and un needed for BR movies or gaming, next leave the 80 in for non confusion issues the 80 will be better known for not havign the EE chip (so its good not to try and sneak it past consumers by putting the 60 in it)

Now we have a streamlined PS3 that can be sold for 400,you are goign to take losses anyway you do it so its best to get them dealt with now,the WIFI and card reader can be put back in via expansion slots and be sold for 80 a pop for all I care they are just weighing the system down when it needs to be light and float in the market.

Of coarse this is what they will do,lower the 60GB to 499,then when the 80GBs hit its back up to 599 with 2 games and 2 controllers,during the Xmas season they might toss in a game or 2 with the 60GB to finish getting it out of stock.

Sony is goign to dck around so much the N64 will look like it did better 10 years ago.. frankly they should be lucky to do as well with this mess they have created.

well, I will say this: it IS good that there is a PS3 and a Wii. If there weren't, do you think the 360 would be as cheap as it is (if you even consider it cheap)? Of course not.

I think the Wii is neat and I play it often when I go over to my friend's house--and it really does give you a workout or even tests your mind. Pretty neat. But I don't like the PS3--just not the games I am interested in.

Back to the point, though--it is like the HDDVD and Blu-Ray issue. I am glad they are fighting because it means lower prices for me.

Yes, its cheaply built thus is fits well into the 300-400 range :P(that and going over 400 would make it simply not sale well...liek the PS3) ,plus thats the range the Xbox was in,the PS3 is tryign to break the mold and is only damaging itself in the process..

I have no clue what your saying, but what I mean as in new system I mean replacement. There shouldn't be anymore problems at least after the 2nd fix. You shouldn't need 4 repairs.

you forget how fickle the problem is on the 360 if the mobo/heat setup is blowing chips and they just replace the chips its still goign to blow chips and then add to it they probably just recert broken units and swap them out ASAP after exchanging the HDs so the user accounts/saves are not.

the problem is not so simple thus why you have people getting number 5 repaired and the reason why MS has come out with a full assault on replacement/repair/shipping/refunds you gotta admit they are cleaning up nicely sure it could be better and they could have spent half of what they are spending now to have it work right int he first place but then so could sony have used current "loss money" to have the PS3 launched in a better position.

IMO nows not the time for sony to delay they need to show devs there system solid,a price drop is their only choice they need to get a solid stable price drop in before Xmas and leave it there.

Ya the PSX brand has been kicked int eh nuts its like the transition from the SNES to the N64 however I think once the pricing issues get dealt with and they put the system out for under 499 it will do better than the 360 but nintendo is golden this time round.

I buyed my ps3 as soon as it came out in japan ( i live in sweden), not many games yet and it was the same thing when ps2 came out so i buyed one quickly. But i will never by a microsoft thing for the console-world, they have the pc-world, and me for my self think they only destroy the console-gaming. I think ps3 will go in bloom next year, and its going to be the best console on the market as ps2 was, only have to have some patience. And i like it now too, gets better and better with the new firmwares that keeps coming, and some real nice games are on their way. Work realy great as blu-ray and dvd-player too, as a bonus.

Totally!! They paid their dues by hanging in there and keeping their name alive then used their vast experience to deliver and end up rather successful. Saga couldn't manage to do that and i hope that Sony the follows the path of Nintendo as opposed to that of saga but i really don't think it's that bad at this point. IMO Sony needs to:
Keep the 60Gb model
Set the price of that model to $450
Sell the 80Gb as a bundle (similar to the bundle they have planned for EU) for $600.
For the upcoming holiday season sell the 60Gb as a bundle as well.
And finally keep the price and HD size stable and stop confusing consumers.

Sega missed the boat one time to many,the sega CD was a solid add on,the 32X was a silly add on,the Saturn was a nightmare to dev for and sega was unhelpful to devs thus lost,the DC was great and it could have found a place in market but sega decided to close its console making doors.

I wish it would relaisize now that they can not make good games anymore and simply cease game development until they are ready to but effort into their titles,Sega needs a overhaul badly..

I think 2 or 3 consecutive failed console releases will kill any console maker,sony could close its doors but make money as a dev,but sony is no where near close to stop being a console maker.

the 60GB model has the EEchip in it and they are removing thos as to lessen the already high amount of confusion.

Sony needs a high end and a low end unit,thats reasonable,as I said before remove the wireless crap if you must leave BT in it so the pads work, remove the card reader as well add 1 over stock game and the 80GB HDD and call it the 399 bundle it comes with basic cables and 1 pad,now for the high end leave the 80GB as it is only put a 120 or 150GB drive in it add the HDMI cables add 2 overstock games and 2 pads sale it for 699,produce at a 70/30 ratio and thus we have balance,stick with a 499+ price point and fail....

That doesn't sound too bad If you need the HD buy one. But it think they should keep the MC slots.

I still don't see why dropping the the EEchip doesn't translate into a real price drop for consumers though. It's so strange. The unit that has an extra chip is being discontinued and yet the price remains the same on the newer unit thats cheaper to produce just with 20 extra gigs. Is 20Gb the same cost as an emotion engine? I think not. I really wish Sony would just spill their guts and tell us whats really going on.

Ya it still has the silver lining and such only it has the 80GB HDD,it just dose not have WIFI and the card reader witch are pointless to gaming.

the EEchip is like 40$ and drops BWC by 30ish% but adds more features to PSX/PS2 games.

sony is wasting a lot of moeny on trying to get this thing to sale well they need to realize the price is the main thing thats stopping its sales.


Sony simply did not offer a good core unit this is why they are in trouble now,if the 20GB was 400 there would be no problem.

Its simple Sony should have offered a solid core unit at a 300-400 price range,they did not and have been scrambling to fix the PS3's high price by adding more extras to it while removing the EE chip and not lowering the price,they seem to think it will sale at or above 500, what they need to do is stop dcking around with it and focus on 1 configuration thats 400$

more power for graphics? i dont know if it's more power but 360 games DO look more vivid and colorful at first glance compared to a game on the PS. ehh, whatever.. im sure there are points upon points to be made.

There always are, while the 360 has more power its not always the best in Hdef formats,sony has set their sights high that plus a slightly different style of "animation design" of some stuff dose look more vibrate.

From what I have seen the 360 and PS3 can be so close in looks that power is truly irrelevant what is going to come play is physics more than "look".

The 360 has 2 years or so worth of maturing the coding has improve but I do not think they have taped the 360s full power multi CPU/threading is still in its infancy.

The PS3 has room to grow the odd architecture of it is goign to slow code optimization/maturing but tis starting off a few rungs up higher than the 360,I wish the price issues would be dealt with so devs can start getting this beast running the over all potential of the PS3 is greater than the 360 but its going to take the PS3 longer to ripen,I do not think tis goign to get a real "next gen" title until MGS 4 or so.

The 360is starting to enter its sweet spot maybe a few months after the 65nm units get out it will blossom ,the PS3 I don't see blooming till mid late 09 or 010,it takes 2 for a console to mature as long as issues don't arise (MS got kicked in the knees sony got kicked in the pants), in the end I want the PS3 to stabilize at a low price so it can start blooming the 360 is already o tis way to fully filling out tis niche.

This is what I think: Don't bash ANYTHING unless you have FIRST HAND knowledge!!!!!!Just because you read everything good and bad does not make you a expert....EX...You can read everything that has ever been written about skydiving....but you can't tell me how it feels to stand in an open door of a plane at 13,500ft. Or the sounds, the taste of a cloud as you punch through it. The rush of floating down at 120+mph. You have to experience for yourself to be able to critique it.

I have both systems and a HDTV(you can't compare the graphics on a SDTV)everything is very similar but I agree that PS3 will pass X360 VERY soon. With all the firmware updates it will not be long. And I hate to choose one or the other so thats why I have both
