Xbox 360 Elite will hit Europe in late August

DVDBack23 @ Jul 11, 2007 19:59 | 11 comments

Yesterday at the E3 event, Microsoft announced that the Xbox 360 Elite will be coming to Europe with an anticipated launch date of August 24th. The price of the system however, was not announced.

European customers will be able to use all Xbox Live offerings including the new HD Disney movie downloads.

The Xbox Elite is still cheaper than the new 80GB PlayStation 3 but notably lacks a built in HD optical drive.

Thats good to hear. Persoanlly with the premium version i am content! Persoanlly i think the black design it less sexy as the white one was, possibly if it was chrome balck, but its platic black, and that makes it look ugly tbh! BUT YAY WE GETTING ELITE!

.............. *sigh*
its not built better than the "working" 360 units already out that are dieing by the dozen, you would be better off waiting a year and gettign them with the 65NM chips...

BTW the price would probably be 500-600 euros....

Lmao, "working". They'll put in those new chips and then realize that something else is crappy cheap and they'll have to put that into their future productions, and then they'll find another screw up, and so on.

And sony is working hard on not revitalizing the PS3 of coarse they don't have to 60% of its titles have jumped ship.

point is the 360 is improving and is in a over all better position than the PS3, frankly with both the "high end" system being cheap and anti consumer get a wii upgrade your PC anything but fool with "them",wait a year for them to right them selfs I mean really the PS3 is heading for anotehr 50-100 price drop in the next 10 months and the 360 will come out beta testing around then too,its all win win for the consumer if you have not already "beta tested" for them yet :P

Lol Beta Testing.

I want a PS3, but there's no games! And I hate Micro$oft($200 for Vista, defective, no refund = B-TARDS!), so I'm never going to get a 360, and the Wii is the cheapest system, so I wanna get the more expensive one first. Only thing is, the more expensive one only has Motorstorm, Resistance, and there's still no way to mod it!

Nothing is ever perfect anymore :(

Bigger hardrive in the Elite isn't enough of a reason to upgrade
from my launch 360.The Elite is for those thinking of a first time purchase. My 360 is still going strong since December 2005 launch and
it's been through many a gaming session I might add.
Being covered by a 3 year warranty is the icing on the cake
and if it ever gets the Red Lights in the future,I'll send it off
and get a cooler modded one or maybe a 65nm upgraded one back.
It's all good.

Personally I think for anyone who hasn't got a 360 and really feels the need to have one a.s.a.p. then the Elite is probably a decent buy
(expecially now they're covering it with a 3 year warranty and have fitted them out with proper heat-sinks).

But anyone that can hang on will be better off waiting for the 65nm version that's due in just a couple of months in the USA and probably about X-mas time in the UK & Europe.

.....and black, yes, it's the right colour (for me), by all means offer other colours as an option but give the chance to get my kit in black, always, thanks.

BTW wasn't there always something of the hint that the elite was a limited run model (which the few months between now & the 65nm versions coming would be about right?).

I agree with you Hughjars. If you've waited this long then I'd wait
a bit longer for the 65nm versions too if it's a first purchase.
The only trouble with waiting is if all them AAA titles get released
before then, could create a lot of mental torture and head bangin'
when you could be gaming instead.
There's a rumour that by the time the Elite hit's our shores, that it
may indeed have the newer 65nm chips inside but it's not confirmed as yet.A quieter console,120gig HD with the shiny new 65nm chips inside could sell very well with all the titles that will be available by the Fall.

Well this would be good for those just wanting basic gaming with no bells and whistles. I like this option.
