Yeah thats true metal gear solid has always been sony would be kinda weird multiplatform..but gotta put yourself in there spot PS3 at the moment has 4 million aboutSS sold and xbox360 about 10/11 million..if they release on both think of how much more $$$$$ they could get..its all about $$$ my friend...released on both they have a chance to sell 14 million copies (prolly not possible) but they have a bigger crowd to sell to instead of the 4 mill with the PS3...they'd make more money..

When you factor in the fact that the 360 has been out twice as long as the PS3 and the fact that it was released before the PS3 its no surprise that the 360 has a great deal more sales, the wii of course being the exception its kinda the neutral, and cheap alternetive essentially in the console war. I know the Devs are all about the money but when you think about it they're gonna be ticking off a HUGE amount of loyal customers they will loose a lot of money not just on MGS4 but all their games as a result.

Blu-ray in the PS3 was done for Blu-ray, not the PS3s benefit.

Interesting too how the 80gb version stays at $600 (but funnily enough I don't see anyone complaining about $100 for 20gbs of HDD this time out).

As for a $499 price-ticket on the regular version?
Konami are right, too little too late.

Watch out for the brief spurt of activity & then watch the sales numbers dive back down off of a cliff.

LOL nothing is even goign to be anywhere near filling a BR disc yet mate. FF12 for ps2 was less then 3GB! and look at how muhc gameplay is in that!

Personally i think Sony blew it with the whole BR in it! Cutting the price like that is like trowing a cup of water onto a fire and hoping the fire carms down. It wont, they've screwed it up. Games exclusive to PS3 can't make enough money from sales if they are ps3 exclusive, unless they cost a lot more, so they have to go multi plat, meanign ppl again wont buy ps3 and the cycle continues.

The PS3 isn't better than the 360 spec wise.
It's memory and GPU is not a match to the 360' setup.
Only it's CELL chip has any potential to surpass the 360's
triple core in terms of physics computation but because it's
a bastard to code, it loses this technical advantage.
In terms of throughput from a developer,the 360 is clearly the
winner here as it's quicker to code the game on that system
to an acceptable level and the PS3 port always has to play
catch up to match it.The proof is out there when you compare
most multi-platform games,the 360 usualy has better fps,less fog/more draw distance and much better online support.
GTAIV will be a great litmus test for both systems and my guess
is,Blu-Ray and CELL won't make a damn difference and with DLC
to be available on the 360,I'd buy the cheaper system to play it on...k...thanx...

realizing that you made the wrong desicion picking a console is to hard to cope with. Plus halo is overated, how is any different from any other shooter? But you see i would list all the exclusives for ps3 but frankly i don't have the time on my hands and there are to many to list.

have fun charging/replacing batteries every 6 hours your controller!
and beware of the red rings of death
ps3 has 1% faliure rate while you xbox 360 have 30%

good luck with therapy though

if you think about it the money you spend on an xbox 360 plus the therapy is way more than the price of the ps3.

Metal Gear was Born On The Nintendo 8-bit system,for i have 3 of the games still in my collection,the 2nd wasn't not a hideo kojimi game,but all was developed by Konami.

All games should be developed for all systems, Period,some people hate the ps2 & ps3 systems,and some hate the xbox,so the consumer is the bottem line,with out us,there is no PS3, Xbox,or Gamecube.

It's not, mainly because the genre has mimicked it ever since the first Halo, most FPS's now implement the 2 weapon system and rechargeable shields/health. I'm sure in a few years we'll start seeing the game replay feature show up as well. Not that I'm a big fan of Halo or anything, but to say it's just like any other shooter is a huge understatement, like saying Mario is just another platformer or MGS is just another stealth game.

Also, I wouldn't write off MGS on the 360 until at least a year after it's PS3 launch, Konami will probably honor a timed exclusive deal but they'd be leaving a lot of money on the table keeping it exclusive forever, unless Sony is giving them bags of cash, which supposedly they don't do.

Incorrect, MG was born on the MSX system. Nitendo picked it up and did a piss poor job to boot. I agree with the multi-platform concept, though.

What you don't realize is that there is no wrong or right decision.
I can change my mind,buy another console,have 3 consoles and a PC
to play games on if I choose but I won't because I don't have to.
I'm happy with my purchase as I havn't had the Red Rings since December 05 launch and I'm playing a load of games I enjoy with friends on and offline.The 360 was definitely the right choice for
me and a load of friends that I know personaly.
As for having fun changing batteries,it sounds like you're the one
who can't cope with trivial BS.Does the PS3 charge itself wirelessly now or what?!?
The PS3 is losing exclusives left right and centre but it doesn't matter because the PS3 doesn't need games to sell,just dumb brand
loyalty as you know.
The PS3's Hype train has crashed and all I can see is casualties.
Losing sales momentum,losing exclusive games,losing face because of underwhelming developer support,losing faith because it's system doesn't deliver what the executives said it would 12 months ago.
All I can see is damage control from a company that's head is too BIG for it's shoulders to stand on.It's lost site of what the game is all about because of arrogance and dismissing the competition.

BR is not needed for gaming the industry is stuck in a DVD9 mindset,in 3 years devs might start regularly going above 16 GB of real data until then BR is hurting the system,and sony should have known any system above 500 would not sale well to start with, not taking losses head first to rebuild the brand a bit is costing them time and money and games.

It may be a marketing trick (everything is now a days) but Sony says the price drop is temporary until the 60gb model is sold out. a few other game companies have also said the ps3 is too expensive. if i was those companies i would be pissed.
