It is the year 1929 and the story begins in the city of New York. Johnny Garland, a 16-year-old detective, was in a car crash few years ago and lost his family as well as some of his memories. Dark times spawn strange phenomena all over America and track down a escaped criminal in assistance with a bounty hunter called Shania.
The game is featured with the trademark Judgement Ring battle system which has been improved since the last Shadow Hearts. The battle system includes a "Stock System" which allows player to perform "Combo" and "Double" moves. A new story and characters with a twist of humor and stunning visual effects on real locations offers players a new look in to the Great Depression.
