Halo 2 Vista release dates

DVDBack23 @ May 24, 2007 17:17 | 9 comments

According to a press release by Microsoft, the long awaited Halo 2 PC game will finally hit Vista-equipped computers on May 31st in North America and then on June 8th in Europe.

The MSRP on the game will be £34.99 and $49.99 USD.

The North American version had a planned May 22nd release date but unspecified reasons pushed the date back. According to a Microsoft spokesperson, "Halo 2 for Windows Vista did not release to retailers on May 22, as previously announced and will now ship from manufacturers on May 31. Shadowrun will be the first game to debut the highly anticipated Games for Windows – LIVE system on May 29. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our customers."

The release of Halo 2 Vista is a long time coming for PC users who have wanted to play the game but do not own an Xbox.

M$ is doing everything in its power to promote vista with a great series like Halo. Its kinda sad they cant push this OS on its own. I mean I know why its not selling to the public as well as others but i know the few who have vista should be happy about this. Still wont make me install. I rather play it on Xbox 360 with out the glitches lol.

i sure as hell wont infect my pc with vista until a "vista (very, very) light" is released!

halo can fuk off, i'll play ign, cs, americas army, far cry, unreal tourn 2004, doom3, ect for a few more years. hell i'd rather play pong than install vista!

I just noticed the worst part about this article is they are trying to sell Halo 2 for $50 for the PC when you can buy it for $20 or less for the Xbox. Thats just flat out retarded to spend that for a older game. If this was the newer Halo maybe. I still wouldnt install vista for that shiznit. Oh and to make matters worst (i know i said this but) its being pushed on the awesomely bugged out trashy vista code name windows me. haha

I wonder when the DX10 for XP will be perfected enough to run Halo 2 that would be prefect to stick it to thos bastards at MS.

Maybe their just making sure everything is running correctly so they do not get recalls.

I would pay 50 for it if it ran on XP,the extra polish is worth it however they wish to engage in anal carnage and I refuse to accept their sleazy offer.

You don't have to have a DX10 card to run Halo 2, it runs on a DX9 card. The game is coded only to work on Vista

Quote:
First and foremost, Bungie has confirmed that even though gamers will need to upgrade their operating systems to play, they might be able to keep using their old graphics cards. While Halo 2 will require the upcoming Windows Vista operating system to play, it won't need a card compatible with Vista's 3D-graphics-generating counterpart, DirectX 10.

Vista sucks. Plain and Simple. Microsoft just keeps putting a bigger carrot on the end of the stick.

32bit runs well enough to mess around with it but theres no compelling reason to "buy it" or use it outside of a dual boot setup.
