Comment by: jarrod40 (Feb 04, 2007 19:56) $1.50 in USA is $1 in australia |
Comment by: deesy32 (Feb 04, 2007 20:04) without HDMI is this thing even worth buying. |
Comment by: hughjars (Feb 04, 2007 20:28) HDMI is a handy extra connection, nothing more.
Component and VGA can give just as good an image. |
Comment by: c.trigger (Feb 04, 2007 20:42) that thing has a usb doesn't plug it into your media center pc for a cheep HD DVD player, isn't that what Muslix64 did? |
Comment by: Andrew691 (Feb 05, 2007 00:17) without HDMI its a crippled piece of crap. Dunno if its what muslix64 did but yes you can plug it into your pC making it a bloody cheap PC drive. |
Comment by: bugmenono (Feb 05, 2007 00:17) Actually jarrod couldn't be more wrong =)
currently... 1.00 Aust Dollars = 0.773100 US Dollars
But of course the rate changes all the time. Try http://www.xe.com/ucc/ instead of making wild guesses.
If it's all too hard, some find it easier to remember that the Australian and Canadian dollar are usually around the same exchange rate (close enough for guesstimates anyway). |

I'm dying to find out what is supposedly so vital about HDMI so that I can go and tell all the regulars at the avs & avforums how their eyes are deceiving them and that their component and vga connections are useless.
Have you got a HDMI receiver?
Which version of HDMI?
(cos funnily enough 1.3 is not 'future proof' - what a ludicrous & childishly naive concept - 1.3a has just appeared and v2 is coming soon).
This whole 'HDMI is so vital' line is pure garbage. |
Comment by: c.trigger (Feb 05, 2007 06:54) 'HDMI is so vital' for the DRM so they tell us that it is |
Comment by: c.trigger (Feb 05, 2007 07:15) yeah he(muslix64) did http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=bfdda91e48580e1d4d283eba86b70b07&p=922055#post922055 |
Comment by: BobbyBlu (Feb 05, 2007 09:22) Thats not good 92,000 compared to over 10 million console sold is horrible. |
Comment by: Thoatih12 (Feb 05, 2007 10:19) who cares at least these were all sold to watch HD0DVD as the ps3 not all were sold to watch blueray most for gaming.. |
Comment by: hughjars (Feb 05, 2007 10:45) Nonews yet on how many are headed to Aus but the last numbers I could see were 150,000 sold as of the 8th of Jan 2007.

Comment by: solarf (Feb 05, 2007 13:16) I wonder how many will be shipped. |
Comment by: Andrew691 (Feb 05, 2007 20:14) HDMI is important not for its ability to send high def signal, I know Component and VGA are just as good. But in 2009 or whenever HDCP happens I dont think people are gunna be happy about having to buy a new HD-DVD addon just to get high def movies out of their high def discs. |
Comment by: rihgt682 (Feb 06, 2007 01:42) You can get FUll HD 1080p with this. Just buy VGA cable. |
Comment by: Andrew691 (Feb 06, 2007 03:26) @wiiclone Great article and all, but the fact that you've put on several unrelated news topics would define it as spamming which is against this sites rules, so stop.
Yes most people know you can get full 1080p using this (with VGA or component) but when HDCP kicks in 1080p will only be displayed through HDMI using a TV that is HDCP compatible, if the movie requires HDCP then people without HDMI and an HDCP supported TV then they will receive a downconverted signal. Making it a waste of time to have a HD-DVD player that only outputs at standard DVD quality. |
