Ubisoft revealed a launch title for Revolution

Siggy @ Apr 12, 2006 03:28

After rumors of a sword game called Red Steel week ago hit the Internet, Ubisoft has now come to officially announce the game. The action game will only be released for Nintendo's next-generation console, the Revolution, for it is said that the game will be designed for the motion-sensing functionality and therefore it can't be adapted to challengers from Sony and Microsoft.

"We have been working closely with Nintendo to take full advantage of the innovative controller to create a thrilling experience that can only exist on the Revolution," said Serge Hascoet, the chied creative officer of Ubisoft.

Red Steel will be an action game combining swordplay and gunfights, which will use the motion-sensing controller. The game is set in contemporary Japan and the players will have to master both the art of katana and use of modern firearms. Ubisoft has also announced that it'll make Red Steel a franchise as its multi-million sellers Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia series.

The game will be one of the launch titles for the Revolution, which is targeted to launch before Christmas in North America. Red Steel will be one of the around 20 games that Nintendo Revolution will feature as launch titles. Two thirds of these games are said to be from other developers than Nintendo. Red Steel will be shown, and probably played, at the Electronic Entertainment Expo next month.
