The futuristic Battlefield 2142 sets, as it name states, in 22nd century that has encountered a universal problem, the world evolving towards a new ice age. The remaining fertile and habitable lands are left fought by nations.
The trailer shows some of the futuristic weapons and vehicles in a cinematic gameplay view including hover tanks, mechs and infantry cloaking. It also reveals a release date in Fall 2006 without platform mentioned. However it is likely to be released on PS3 and Xbox 360 in addition to obvious PC. View the trailer here.

Recently speculated Battlefield series next sequel has now been confirmed by a trailer on the Internet. While the publisher, Electronic Arts, has not yet announced the upcoming Battlefield 2142 the trailer shows what it will about.
