San Francisco residents destroy PSP graffitiDela @ Dec 04, 2005 13:15 | 11 comments
Sony has not officially endorsed the various pieces of art, and claimed to be unaware of such a campaign. However, claims on the Internet are that Sony paid for the characters to be painted onto public and private property as an advertising campaign. The characters were all very well created, and all were somehow playing with Sony's PlayStation Portable (PSP) console.
Here is the source news article with some pictures of the defaced PSP art: http://www.secondaryscreening.net/static/archives/2005/11/index.html |

Comment by: Chavo (Dec 04, 2005 14:03) I'm not surprised. I knew the graffiti itself would be vandalised or written over. Most graffiti out there meets the same fate |
Comment by: cheezy_P (Dec 04, 2005 14:58) Now if only people were this adament about getting rid of gang graffiti... |
Comment by: neurokasm (Dec 04, 2005 18:52) you know, I wouldn't put it past Sony to do something like that for advertising...

Comment by: MXGzX (Dec 04, 2005 20:18) that's so lame I liked the graffiti |
Comment by: sup2069 (Dec 04, 2005 20:59) true cheezy.
Marking over the faces with red paint is rather retarded. If they hate it so much, why not paint over it? Infact it just make the building look even worse. |
Comment by: ZeroTech (Dec 04, 2005 21:29) How ironic. The residents destroy the grafitti because it's vandalism. Look at what the hell they are doing. |
Comment by: Chavo (Dec 04, 2005 22:17) Vandalising the graffiti will only encourage more graffiti. |
Comment by: Reasons? (Dec 04, 2005 22:22) I'm more confident that Sony Haters (It is a very clear definition, and obviously a big crowd these days.) took it upon themselves to do it, not "residents" that were "fed up with the grafitti."
Hands down, this is a good point-- "If people were really annoyed about this artwork because they didn't like how it looked, then how does spraying red paint on them and anti-Sony messages beside them make a better picture?"
I smell haters and fanboys. |
Comment by: liberal (Dec 04, 2005 22:40) The third picture looks photoshopped... |
Comment by: evilh0ly (Dec 04, 2005 22:50) these people should be worrying about those gang related graffiti instead of these psp. 80 or less piz get the fxxk out of the left lane.

Comment by: misant (Dec 05, 2005 01:28) LOL! That's pretty low for a corporate entitiy to subsidize the defacing of public property like that. I mean, don't they know about Moss Graffiti yet????? It's much nicer! ;-)
