Sony reveal details on PSP chipsDela @ Aug 25, 2004 10:07 | 4 comments
The dedicated security engine will be used in attempt to prevent game piracy and protect the PSP from being hacked. Sony's other gaming consoles have all been hacked and modchips are used to bypass the security. Sony hopes this new technology will eliminate piracy of PSP games.
The PSP will support USB 2.0, MemoryStick and up to 32MB of DDR SDRAM. The PSP will feature a 4.3in, 480 x 272 widescreen LCD and will weigh 260g. It measures 17 x 7.4 x 2.3cm. It uses a 1.8GB optical disc called Universal Media Disc to store content.

Comment by: Toiletman (Aug 25, 2004 14:05) That's some powerful specs, but the real issue here is the price and quality of games. After shelling out $200-$300 for a PSP, do I really want some GBA type games on my PSP? I'm not saying GBA games are bad, but most are mediocre, and those that are "amazing" are because they're the best the GBA can offer, which isn't really that much. |

Comment by: Toiletman (Aug 26, 2004 01:26) Most probably :)
I tend to think anything CD-based can be cracked. Only cartidges have a chance against being cracked! But hell, look at the GBA, there are pirated 120MB Cartidges everywhere. Everyone is entitled to their own true opinion. Either respect that or don't.
