DVDBack23 @ Dec 10, 2011 22:07 | 3 comments

The NPD Group has said today that the gaming industry enjoyed its best November, ever, on the back of Modern Warfare 3.

Notes NPD's Anita Frazier:

This November marks the best November on record for sales of new physical content.

Digital content is not included in the figures, but the NPD says software sales totaled $1.7 billion for the month, up from $1.45 billion last year.

Hardware sales fell, to $982 million from $1.1 billion year-over-year.

The top titles for the month were Modern Warfare 3 and Skyrim, followed by:

Battlefield 3, Electronic Arts

Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Ubisoft

Just Dance, Ubisoft

Madden NFL 12, Electronic Arts

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, Sony

Saints Row: The Third, THQ

The Legend of Zelda: SkywardSword, Nintendo

Batman: Arkham City, Warner Bros. Interactive

What a fantastic lineup it was. My wallet's still curled up in the corner, silently weeping.

And I am, too, since I got the super-duper cherry-on-top Arkham City dealie with the statue, got home, popped it in, and only then remembered that they could block me from playing it on my hacked PS3.

Good times.

Good times.

Hacking consoles.............don't see the point. The benefit just isn't great enough.

As for COD-MW3.......a pure example of simpleton U.S.A. (and the world too I guess) as the game is nothing more than COD MW 1 and 2 with a few minor changes and different levels. This game is played!

Oh, I must disagree with you. Full Matroska and FLAC support, emulators, homebrew, and being able to play the games I buy without having to worry about the condition of the disc is, on the whole, wonderful.

If I can't play Batman on it, it's not that bad of a tradeoff; I just sold my game, kept the statue, and got the PC version instead. Mostly, I was just upset that they could and did block me from being a legit customer of the PS3 version.

And don't you dare insult MW1 by putting it on the same level as the next two! Especially not 3!
