Analyst: PS4 coming before Xbox NextDVDBack23 @ Oct 21, 2011 18:05 | 25 comments
Recent rumors have pegged the Xbox Next as having a late 2013, early 2014 launch.
Baird believes that Sony does not want to give Microsoft "first mover's advantage" like they had with the launch of the Xbox 360.
Says the analyst:
I doubt they will be ready for launch in 2013. Between Sony and Microsoft, we expect Sony to be first to market perhaps as early as 2013, but more likely in 2014. There is still a lot of investment for both companies to recoup in the current generation.
Sony has been rumored to have already begun development on PS4 titles, as has Microsoft, although neither company has commented. |

Next gen is a couple years out. I just got into the current ones last Christmas. Hell, I still have Colecovision,Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Genesis, and PS2(modded of course). There are certian games I still like, and others are ok.

I still enjoy gaming on the Xbox 360 a lot better. I like the controller design and I also hate the XMB on the PS3 always have since they put that crap on the PSP. I still enjoy the use of my PS3 makes for a great blu-ray player the reason I purchased one to begin with.

Comment by: Memnock (Oct 22, 2011 16:34) After this generation I'm definitely more interested in the next Xbox, but I'll be open the the next PS4. I doubt Sony will be dumb enough to launch it with a $600 price tag this time. |

Comment by: Mysttic (Oct 22, 2011 19:43) PC is the way to go for me; based on current gen there's not enough exclusive titles on either system to warrant owning both next gens or even 1 of em. To get both would cost around $1000 at launch, what kind of PC rig can you start with that? Quite a bit. And I already put $3k into mine, what's anther 1k? |

It will be next to impossible to defeat hardware DRM in the cpu when the software is expecting it. Example of hardware enabled DRM would be the newer Intel cpu with Sandy Bridge and newer, and might suspect this will be a trend that will be pushed into the console CPUs as well.

Comment by: Morreale (Oct 22, 2011 21:46) Originally posted by KillerBug: Sadly this is true for me. I bought a PS3 mainly for GT5, waited like 4 years longer than expected and then was disappointed. In terms of exclusives, the only memorable title I can come up with on my PS3 is MGS4, and none on my 360. Previous consoles were so much better. |

Comment by: kutulu1 (Oct 23, 2011 01:28) Originally posted by KillerBug: I agree with you. I had a perfectly functional original 60GB model and it just went YLOD on me. The fan still works. the PSU still works. They are writing code in the FW to kill off the old versions of the console. We need a FW watchdog that should be getting these releases to inspect before it gets released; for both Sony and Microsoft. |

Comment by: xaznboitx (Oct 23, 2011 05:32) Sony stated that PS3 will lost 10 years and Sony will not last if their server keep getting hacked.

Comment by: KillerBug (Oct 23, 2011 05:48) Originally posted by xaznboitx: They say the lifespan will be 10 years...considering that they are still selling the PS2, and thus the "lifespan" of the PS2 continues, the 10 year number means nothing.

Comment by: xaznboitx (Oct 23, 2011 05:51) I wonder what kind of disc they will be using and I bet it will cost more than PS3 when it first came out and then later on no B/C PS2/PS3.

Comment by: Hyasuma (Oct 24, 2011 04:45) Originally posted by KillerBug: LOL, well I should of put this in my reply that i mean they finally starting getting their act together about their games, and somehow they are doing better because of better games right? that's why i want to restate that they somewhat getting their act together. I mean, Despite I have both PS3 and Xbox 360, I prefer Xbox 360 much better than PS3, is more user friendly for me and more so online gaming with my friends, although I only use PS3 for play BD purpose and played few games like God of war, MGS and Uncharted, other than that I haven't play anything online with my PS3 console. I just don't think is a right time for them to even think about making new consoles when these consoles are still on their prime time, specially Xbox.

Comment by: 8686 (Oct 28, 2011 15:33) I bought the xbox elite when the Elite first came out for the release of GTA 4, then it was delayed a year or so. I use my ps3 for the BR player and the exclusives. Just finished Drake 1 & 2. But I use my 360 for all other games. I will wait a long time after the next gen comes out. For the $ drop and to finish all the games I want to play on this gen. They are prob gonna look like poo on the next gen consoles.

I think that the last thing that they released that was any good was the PS2. After that they started going crazy with their terrible ideas that they think are going to be bombshells.
