Gran Turismo 5 will miss November release date

Dela @ Oct 13, 2010 17:45 | 18 comments

Sony has announced that it will not meet the November release date for the Gran Turismo 5 title that has been eagerly awaited by PS3 owners for some time now.

"We sincerely apologize to GT fans for the delay, however, creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience, and we are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches," the official PlayStation blog reads.

However, the blog did say that despite not meeting the November 2 release date, the title "will" be released this coming holiday season.

In other words, they need time to beef up their security so it can't be pirated as easily or if lucky, at all.

...And if you know what that means, you have been around for a while!

I am sure there will be lots of anti-piracy stuff in GT5 as it was. GT5P was just a demo, yet it had always-on DRM (through the PSN). You couldn't even gameshare it.

And yes...I bought my PS3 over 3 years ago, and I purchased a preorder for GT5 at the same time...needless to say, I got my money back for the preorder, but not for the system that I had bought for that one preorder. Sony sold me a PS3 with promises of GT5, Free PSN, and Linux...thieving bastards!

Who cares about the piracy protection? What kind of loser would actually not pay for this game? I'm a huge thieving pirate and I'm willing to buy this game along with another PS3 to play safely online with ('jailbreaking' my current console, eventually). It's probably the only game I really enjoy, along with the original Pokemons and other games I grew up with.

If they force me to spend 5 hours trying to hack the game from the disk, but I can download it pre-hacked, why would I then go out and buy a worthless disk? Just to feel warm and fuzzy about giving Polyphony (a division of sony) money? Sony has done everything they can to make my PS3 useless...why would I buy something that they have already made useless before I even buy it? I think I would feel better about giving money to Enron.

AS a gamer who has completed every GT to date with 1 mill in the bank on each save file, this is very disappointing to read but i do not support sony what so ever as they are the biggest Jews in the gaming industry along with EA.....As a matter of fact they are best friends with EA.

As for the protection, well there is no way in hell that they can produce something that will never be broken, someone all ways finds a way so hand over the game or like all ways Sony face will be rubbed in the sand and then hit over the head with a 360 console and run off laughing.

Sony is such a fail i would not even buy a PS3 for GT, the gronks don't deserve my money.

Well according to the President at Polyphony, they want to work on touching up the final stages. Said it should still be released this year.

They've delayed this game so much it's starting to get funny.

November is the perfect month as it Christmas is coming up and for a lot of PS3 fans, it's a choice between GT5 and Black Ops and I know that most people will pick GT5.

Holly snotballs. I actually forgot about this game. I have the GT5p, and waitted for GT5, and waitted and waitted. While waiting beat GT5p shelved it and completly forgot.
Maybe thats what they wanted all along though. For us to forget about how much of a bomb GT5p was with hopes we would get GT5p

I guess Black Ops is gonna fill this void for me. :)
Really disappointed in this news, though. GT5 is the carrot that got a lot of us to buy a PS3 in the first place. Oh well, I guess I'll continue to use it as a Blu Ray player and leave the gaming to my 360.
