UPDATE: Target memo shows Xbox 360 price drops, second slim model plannedDela @ Jun 15, 2010 00:07 | 1 comment
The Target memo about the price cuts reads...
Due to an announcement made Monday 6/14, the following Xbox Game Consoles will be Price Cut by $50 effective Tuesday 6/15: The new Xbox 360 console will be available in stores later in the week, after Microsoft revealed it started shipping on Monday.
UPDATE: Microsoft has revealed that a second slim Xbox 360 console is currently in the works with the aim of replacing the Xbox 360 Arcade model, priced at $199. The company has also confirmed that the old Xbox 360 "fat" consoles will be discontinued.
Ryan Moore, product marketing manager for Xbox, revealed the plans to GameSpot but refused to specify what features would be gone from a cheaper slim Xbox 360. A unit without WiFi and a hard drive is entirely possible, as contrary to some reports, the hard drive in the new slim Xbox 360 is detachable. Moore also said that in the near future, Xbox 360 consoles won't have titles (like Arcade, Elite) but instead will be differentiated by their memory capacity (by memory, we assume it means storage). |

Comment by: Mysttic (Jun 15, 2010 12:40) It should also be noticed that so far only Target has confirmed doing a price cut; but other companies will likely follow suit pending on how well the slim models sell as the need to rid older stock rises. |
