DSi XL confirmed for United States as well

DVDBack23 @ Nov 02, 2009 22:14 | 7 comments

After first being confirmed for Japan and then the EU, the Nintendo DSi XL has now been confirmed for the United States as well, hitting U.S. shores in the Q1 2010.

The DSi XL, besides keeping most of the features of the DSi handheld intact, adds 4.2-inch screens, a 93 percent increase on any current model's screen size.

As with the Japanese and European models, the unit will come with a standard touch pen and a longer touch screen stylus as well as DSiWare software.

Nintendo says the new, larger screens are "designed to let small groups gather around the device for playing games."

The device is expected to retail for about $200 USD, $30 more expensive than the DSi.

This is a very bad move in my personal opinion, you can argue that the DSi in Japan has now been out for a year but the device in the U.S. has just come out this year, I feel ripped off even tough I hadn't bought a DSi yet but were getting the same resolution as the original three devices just a large screen, however this will be better for people like myself for Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days it will probably fix the slow downs that it has on the original DS's but other then that ere just getting the same DSi with a larger screen .

What about battery life with those screens now almost double in size?

Probably has a bigger battery, too.

Take your pick:

A: Cash grab
B: Brick
C: All of the above

^Still a better redesign than the psp go; infact I'm mildly interested.

Interesting, I didn't expect the battery life to drop so drastically from the lite to the dsi.

It didn't. It's better, actually. The "Medium" Brightness on the DSi (And I assume the XL) are the Lite's maximum brightness.

You also have a mic and camera sucking that power. Battery for DSi is probably the same as the Lite.
