Sony speaks out about PSPgo retail concernsDVDBack23 @ Oct 02, 2009 00:06 | 16 comments
Says UK PSP product manager Claire Backhouse: "We were very aware of concerns when we went into it and I actually expected a lot more negative responses than we actually got. They were really quite fine with it."
"They see it as a way of getting people into the store because it's new interest, a new product. And they've had such strong sales as well of PSP 3000 almost off the back of it," she noted.
Blackhouse continued on:
"If you bring out a new product, people aspire to that but they might not buy it, they might buy the PSP 3000 instead. Especially if they're part of a family - dad might buy the PSPgo but the kids might get PSP 3000s. I think that works quite well for us." |

Comment by: xnonsuchx (Oct 02, 2009 02:37) Why should retailers want to support sales of the unit when they don't get any part of the sales of downloadable games?

Comment by: core2kid (Oct 02, 2009 02:52) Offer me a PSP Go with CFW and a $150 price tag and I'll consider. Give it to me with $100 price tag and CFW and I'll buy. |
Comment by: Morreale (Oct 02, 2009 03:35) I don't know why this is such a big deal... Do people actually buy PSP games?

Comment by: SDF_GR (Oct 02, 2009 03:58) IMO the greatest issue is the price, if you go to a shop to buy a psp go you'll end up either with a PS3 Slim or with a PSP 3000.

Comment by: bmlshane (Oct 02, 2009 09:50) Remember the many console that have been released, and when another is released, the back up infrastructure move towards the new product. What happens when this company brings out a better hand-held console, and you can no longer get to download paid games? $$ of something you can't get new games for. Built in obsolescence. warlock

Comment by: core2kid (Oct 03, 2009 00:44) However much I want to see a hack on the PS3, I kinda don't want to. I don't want to have 500GB hard drives in the system with 25GB games installed. I can never actually see game rips working properly since a bluray drive is 2x and a hard drive is much faster. |
Comment by: inagasake (Oct 03, 2009 19:25) Some of the PSP-3000s have the unhackable motherboards though no? So if anything a pirate would be most interested in buying a used PSP-2000 off ebay.

Comment by: core2kid (Oct 03, 2009 19:52) All the games I play are on MS are only ripped because they load faster. Burnout Legends loads a whole lot faster on the MS than it does on UMD. Then also I can take more games with me as I go. On a 4GB MS, I can fit about 6 games compressed in CSO.
