PSP 2 is coming, soonDVDBack23 @ Feb 26, 2009 03:32 | 13 comments
David Perry, chief creative officer at Acclaim, had this to say:
"I spoke to a developer who is working on it right now. I know this developer is already working on it, so that means they have a prototype. That would sound like a fall release to me."
"I've been pounding on Sony for a long time to make the Playstation Portable relevant and not to let Apple stroll away with the portable game market," he added. "Look at what Apple is doing now. Why are so many investors investing in Apple game development? Trying to pitch a PSP game to investors right now is brutal."
With the removal of UMD will come the expansion of digital downloads through the PlayStation Store and more interestingly, sales of the games on Memory Sticks.
We will keep you updated. |

Comment by: Pop_Smith (Feb 26, 2009 04:08) Quote: Wait... what? I know you can get a ton of games for the iPhone and iPod Touch but isn't the main competitor to the PSP/PSP 2 the Nintendo DS/DSi?
Quote: With how insanely anti-piracy Sony is (well, I guess all of big electronics corporations, really) I am surprised they are going the Memory Stick route because it would make the piracy of the PSP2's games a bit easier since it's on a store-available storage device once the encryption is cracked/emulated.

Comment by: ooZEROoo (Feb 26, 2009 04:50) The PS3 really can't be hacked (yet). There are many people trying to exploit holes and nothing has turned up. People are working underground and they still have yet to come up with anything really positive. PSP2 will use some type of hardcore security like the PS3 because Sony can't afford to let a new PSP turn into the old PSP. |
Comment by: Morreale (Feb 26, 2009 05:53) Oh yea I was hoping that the PSP2 would use mini BR discs but I guess not... Flash memory will be stupid unless they come out with cheap 32GB cards, assuming the games will each be like double in size. Mini BR discs hold up to almost 8GBs I think, it would be cool to have a PS2 that fits in my pocket :) |

Comment by: 7thsinger (Feb 26, 2009 19:45) I waited for the PSP to be "modd-able" before purchasing one. I'm sure this move by Sony isn't just to indtroduce a new model, but introduce one that's a little tougher to hack.

Comment by: lebowski4 (Mar 04, 2009 17:25) They better include dual analogs. A Bonus would be playing ps2 games on the psp2, but I doubt they will let us. As long as we have a hard drive on the new psp its possible. |
