The bundle will include a 60GB hard drive, headset, and 3-month free Live Gold subscription.

Comment by: fgamer (Oct 30, 2008 04:36) Could they not make it a more reasonable, 69.99 or $79.99? Still better than nothing I suppose! |
Comment by: ripxrush (Oct 30, 2008 06:07) it does seem excessive since i can buy a 500gb drive for like $69! so if i am paying 100 i want more than 60! so 3 free months that worth what 15-20, headset, well shit i have 4 or 5 of em! just what i want another! |
Comment by: Vr0cK (Oct 30, 2008 12:36) Hmmm to turn your Arcade into a Pro = same price as Pro but wit a lil more. They shouldve put at least the 120GB HDD instead and that would sound more appealing. Too bad they still rip us off with the HDD space with that price. |
Comment by: lawndog (Oct 30, 2008 12:38) wow, seriously. Sounds like people will complain about anything on here.

Comment by: redux79 (Oct 30, 2008 13:13) This deal is tempting; you can turn an arcade model into a pro with a free headset and 3 month gold subscription. The only draw back for me is that the arcade model isn't B/C with xbox 1 games (I know only 300 or so are supported).

Comment by: kikzm33z (Oct 30, 2008 16:47) Looks good but the 3-month XBL isn't great. If I had a 360, I'd get this.

Comment by: Vr0cK (Oct 30, 2008 17:36) Quote: Not to sound negative or bias because some people are easily offened, but how so with the PS3? They have 80gb hdd (which you can find a cheap hdd with more space like 500gb for like $100) and PSN is free. As for the headset..I guess you can buy the Socom bundle for $59 and got yourself a game for $10 since the headset is $49 alone (which is attractive looking and great quality so its not some cheap thing). I think Xbox360 would do alot better if their console was able to swap hdd easily. Thats what made me find the original Xbox more attractive then the PS2. I dunno why MS didnt stick with that. Probably due to mods etc. |

It still is not the news i have been waiting to hear. Prices will eventually drop of the HDD's, though it doesnot seem to be dropping fast enough. Microsoft should unlock the 360 and allow for use of your own HDD. Good deal for some but on the real in the long run its a rip off. Curse you Microsoft. |
Comment by: slickwill (Oct 30, 2008 21:32) Quote: I never understood why businesses and advertisements still keep using the phrase "free HBO or free High speed internet" or in this case "3-month free Live Gold subscription." I mean it's not free at all b/c it's included in the purchase. If it was really free then the consumer could obtain it regardless of the purchase.

Comment by: IPRFenix (Oct 31, 2008 02:00) Originally posted by ripxrush: Actually, no, you can't. Both Xbox360 and PS3 use 2.5" laptop hard drives, not your standard 3.5" desktop hard drives. There is a very steep difference in price between the two.

Comment by: Oner (Oct 31, 2008 02:53) Originally posted by IPRFenix: There is no way M$ is paying $70 for a 60gb. Plus how could they justify a 120 gb (it's definitely less than $50 for M$) @ an originally launched price of $175+ (now down to $150 or so)? Only answer is to fleece the customers! This on top of the cost of LIVE, rechargeable battery packs and other items some people may need like $100 for a WiFi adapter (come on)! If they would have made harddrives, HDMI, WiFi and some other items standard (possibly HD-DVD) they would be losing more but passing the savings on to the customer...and we all know M$ wouldn't (didn't) do that. Which is sad because they really could have had this gen in the bag from the get go (if they also made the hardware stable)! ![]() Search > http://forums.afterdawn.com/search Rules > http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2487 Important Rule > http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/380660 |
Comment by: DVDBack23 (Oct 31, 2008 04:28) Quote:Originally posted by ripxrush: Although those prices are correct from a retail standpoint, MS will be getting wholesale prices for both the enclosure and the drive and I cant imagine their costs being more than $30 per drive with enclosure. |
Comment by: IPRFenix (Oct 31, 2008 04:54) Quote: Oh no, I'm very well aware that those are the retail prices and that MS would get them for, well, face it, practically nothing. I was listing the retail prices to point out how skewed the difference is between what WE are paying for a mere 60gb hard drive for 360 versus what we'd pay at retail for any other hard drive. Which is even more ridiculous when MS could get them far below what we pay. That was more or less the point of my post. That and to point out to the person I was quoting, that there is a price difference between the 2.5" and 3.5" drives, since the topic is 360 hard drives, which are 2.5" not 3.5". The $10-15 estimate on the enclosure is a figure I picked out of my ass, to say that's likely the price WE'D end up paying for them, after markup. |
Comment by: ZippyDSM (Oct 31, 2008 05:59) If no one has mentioned it MS puts enterprise class drives in their..well....drives...LOL
