Microsoft details 60GB Xbox 360 in UKDVDBack23 @ Aug 11, 2008 18:41 | 21 comments
The software giant has released more details today on the system, including the confirmation that the system will retail for GBP 199.99. Bundled with the console is a wireless controller, a headset and one month subscription to Xbox Live Gold.
Beginning on August 15th, the new model will be available alongside the entry-level Arcade model which will sell for GBP 159.99, and the Elite model which offers HDMI and higher capacity storage for GPB 259.99.
"No one device offers the depth and breadth of entertainment that Xbox 360 can deliver and we know consumers need increasingly more and more space to store the amazing digital entertainment content we provide," said Neil Thompson, senior regional director for Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices Division. "Now the Xbox 360 has triple the space to house all your entertainment needs at no extra cost." |

Comment by: redux79 (Aug 11, 2008 22:30) The 360 will probably never shake off its reputation for hardware failure, but at these prices with a large library of games I'm really starting to consider it.

Comment by: Stu_dent (Aug 11, 2008 22:52) It would be a nice next step for microsoft to upgrade all their models with HDMI rather than just the elite. Also it would have been nice for microsoft to allow ppl to fit there own sized HD depending on there needs (and what i mean by that is you can go down to any PC store and by a HD and just plug it in yourself), or atleast offer the "official" HD at reasonable prices |

Comment by: DXR88 (Aug 11, 2008 23:41) the Core unit also has a mount for HDMI it was never attached, it saved 5 dollars every 100 consoles, cheap assholes really if you good with a soldering gun you can attach your own all non-HDMI ported consoles usually have ether no-solder fill or half solder fill.

Comment by: rvinkebob (Aug 12, 2008 05:22) I wouldn't buy the 360 for much other than exploitation. If the PS3 gets an exploit I'll never look toward the 360, but if and when the 360 60GB drops to around $249CDN I might just buy it.

Comment by: fgamer (Aug 12, 2008 08:22) I see Microsoft making smarter and smarter moves as the time goes on. I think Microsoft is putting themselves in a really good position to keep it's #2 spot. The PS3 just doesn't have enough steam to keep it's current momentum going. The only way Sony can stay near the 360 is to constantly drop it's price and OR release some freakin games that show why a PS3 should be purchased, and if they don't, the PS3 will be disregarded again as the most expensive. I really like what Microsoft has been doing lately! |
Comment by: 00lloyd (Aug 12, 2008 11:43) I am impressed, a HD console thats as cheap as the Wii (60GB version). I might just complete the next gen console trilogy! |
Comment by: lxhotboy (Aug 12, 2008 12:26) Originally posted by blueroad: I wonder if they are going to sell the 60 gig hd seperate for those that want to upgrade. I have a few friends and cousins who bought a xbox360 when they were first released who experienced the RROD but none have had the problem since the newer consoles have been out. I dont ever buy a system when it first hits the market just for that reason and have had no problems with mine nor has anyone else i know who has a newer version console. I wonder how many people actually didnot have the RROD and thought they did. I actually saw a guy at gamestop a few weeks back swapping out a xbox360 who actually had a short in his power supply cord somewhere and it was causing his RROD. They got him a new power supply and it solved his problem. I know that people say that the percent for RROD is still high but i really havenot seen anyone yet have the RROD who has a console made after Microsoft admitted the RROD to the public. I still think Microsoft has the best console as long as you dont have one of the older models and with the the library their isnot much competition. I do have a regret that Tekken 6 is exclusive to the PS3 as it is my favorite fighting game. Rented Soulcaliber IV last night and i am really not impressed. Combos system, and move list are weak and need some work. |

But you are right, Sony has not taken advantage of bluray yet..but the PS3 is superior to the 360..not now, but MGS4 is proof enough as well as the specs that the PS3 has as well. |
