Wiis now outselling PS3 6-to-1 in JapanDVDBack23 @ Jul 02, 2007 22:41 | 43 comments
During June, 270,974 Wii units were sold while Sony only moved 41,628 consoles. Microsoft continued to lag even farther behind with only 17,616 units sold.
The Wii to PS3 ratio has been getting larger and larger since April when the ratio was 4-to-1. It moved to 5-to-1 last month and the momentum just keeps on rolling.

Comment by: BIGnewb (Jul 03, 2007 11:15) The key to this next generation console battle is experience and nintendo has that experience and they've learned from their mistakes in gamecube.that is why nintendo will be on top no problem.xbox 360 is financially affordable and that is why it is being sold, but xbox games aren't really that great.gears of war is a pretty shitty game and most of xbox sales rely on halo.not to mention xbox 360's launch, that was pretty horrible and also there was a post that 30 percent of xbox360s fail.that's pretty shitty.ps3 is stable in performance and there hasn't been an outstanding number of failures but the price and amount of games available is incredible.ps3 is supposedly releasing over 300 in 2008.well ps3 might win it in the end but the wii IS KILLIN IT! |

Comment by: Ankoku (Jul 03, 2007 17:57) No question Nintendo is coming out of the gates strong, and the simplest explanation is price tag, on top of the free publicity it received from multiple news outlets for its "motion sensing promoting physical fitness"...but all of the consoles have done well, a story from gameinformer was released last month which revealed that the PS3 is outselling the XBOX 360 at the time of the 360 launch, and is also selling more PS3's in the same time frame as the PS2 did at its launch, and we all know how well the PS2 did... 360 obviously has the best games available right now, so I wouldn't go out an declare a loser, although Nintendo has to feel like its already a winner because NO ONE expected this kind of boom...of course I got mine with the preorder (No waiting for me!!! :-) ) |
Comment by: DVDBack23 (Jul 03, 2007 19:43) Quote: I didnt want to repsond, but your post was utterly ridiculous. The PS3 and Wii were launched at the same time, hence the comparison. Of course the almost 2 year old 360 will have less sales than its brand new competitors. As for people saying this is a Sony hating site...please...

Comment by: Yraen (Jul 08, 2007 20:53) Quote: Actually, video games were invented in the US, it's just that US and European developers didn't see their value until the founder of Atari (not a Japanese company) started making big bucks off of his inventions and Japanese companies began picking up on the idea. One US company actually refused to support one of the original arcade systems because they believed the video screen would be stolen out of its encasement by "hoodlums." Its prototype, set up in a bar, failed within days because the coin cache was overfilled--people liked it so damned much that they stuffed it with quarters until it wouldn't work anymore. This is a bit off-topic, though...
