In Half-Life 2 the player takes the role of Gordon Freeman, the same research scientist as in the prequel and the future of alien-infested Earth is depending on him.
Half-Life 2 and its Source engine features new facial expressions which brings life to characters as they react with more than 40 facial muscles to players doings. The physics engine of Source takes care that elements of the game obeys the laws of mass, friction, gravity and buoyancy. The non-player characters are controlled by an AI which allows them to fashion different weapons and assess threats. Source provides Half-Life 2 shader-based renderer which gives the game realistic and beautiful environments.
