Sword of the Stars is a 4X strategy game with a new twist of 3D starmap and real-time combat in full 3D environment. The game offers 4 unique races - Human, Hiver, Tarkas and Liir - each with their own advantages and weaknesses in technology and warfare as well as their own style of transporting which provides different styles of play.
The over 150 technologies are researched on a dynamic tree which changes from game to game - you can't memorize the perfect path and exploit it, you'll have to find the way each time. The researched technologies upgrade the ship models, weapons and combat effects.
Sword of the Stars includes a variety of weapons in six different weapon classes and three modifiable ship classes - Destroyer, Cruiser, and Dreadnought.
The game includes a multiplayer mode in which you can play against AI opponents or eachother with up to 8 players on LAN or the Internet.
