Painkiller puts you in a world somewhere between Heaven and Hell, in action that surely resembles more Hell than Heaven. Fast-paced action and horror-themed world puts you on the edge of the seat on all times. The game world is created by a proprietary 3D engine called "PAIN engine", which provides amazing details with latest lighting and shadowing effects.
The gameplay, as said, is fast and frantic and you can and should shoot everything that moves. After killing an enemy, the soul can be consumed to gain health. Monsters also leave gold behind that you can use to upgrade weapons, speed, maps and more.
The game offers over 19 unique levels of gameplay, each with average of 350,000 polygons and advanced lighting, both static and dynamic. Over 20 different kinds of monsters roam the lands of Painkiller, each with own behaviour and attacks.
But the real key ingredient is the incredibly advanced physics provided by Havoc 2.0 physics engine. Havoc offers unseen realism in collisions and explosions as well as ultra realistic death animations, thanks to "ragdoll physics".
Painkiller includes multiplayer mode in which you can compete against other live opponents on LAN or the Internet with up to 32 players in 5 different modes.
