Report: Wii U to launch at $299DVDBack23 @ Jul 29, 2012 01:04 | 8 comments
The report, via a source who heard the rumor through "certain channels," has not been confirmed by Nintendo or anyone else.
Another report, citing a "senior publishing source," says the console will ship at under £250, which would be the equivalent of $400 USD. The UK always gets higher prices for electronics, however.
Earlier in the year, the credible Japanese business paper Nikkei claimed the console would sell for 30,000 yen in Japan, about $375 USD.

Comment by: KillerBug (Jul 29, 2012 15:05) I thought they said they were going to try to make it competitively priced? $300 is higher than the PS3, and the WiiU specs are looking much lower than the PS4...so what is it competing with?

Especially now, when microsoft is pushing for the windows 8 ecosystem the xbox might look better on paper.

If you don't already know, Sony is seriously hurting financially, they can't afford another $600 console. Anything you've heard about the PS4 is a rumor, Sony hasn't said a thing about it. If anything, its the Xbox that's going to have the most power under its hood. Besides, if its specs you want, game on a PC. They obliterate consoles in the power department and will continue to do so even after the next ones come out.

Comment by: dEwMe (Jul 30, 2012 18:33) Ya know I gotta say I wish I had never bought the Wii. Didn't like the interface from the begining. Gotta say I have less than no interest in anything further from them. May see what Sony or Microsoft come up with...We'll see.
Just my $0.02,

Comment by: 3rdgen (Aug 03, 2012 20:55) Ive seen much more broken Xbox consoles then PS. So heads up. If your going to get the X then plan on buying more then one. I was one of 4 that bought a PS in my family and every single X has broke. One lasted just over a month. Not trying to bash but a 100% failure rate is huge IMO. My brother took the 5 week old X and bought a PS. Both of out PS' are going strong after a few years. My cousin however is on his 3rd X.
Hey take it easy
