The new CECH-4x model will likely also include a number of significant component changes, says sources.
Sony will release the new console for the U.S. and Canada, but there was little other information available.
Rumor has it Sony will reveal the ultra-slim version at next month's Gamescon trade show.
Most believe that the new model will be the final PS3, one that will still be available after next year's expected launch of the PS4 and into the future.

Comment by: Mr_Bill06 (Jul 06, 2012 23:45) I wonder if they will upgrade the HDMI port to 1.4? That would be a good upgrade to fully support 3D blu-ray and not have to sacrifice DTS-HD or Dolby True HD sound. They did an HDMI upgrade with the original PS3 slim. I think the fat had 1.2 and they put 1.3 in the slim so it could bit-stream the audio. If they do that, that would again make them a very good console to buy over a set top box.
