i think they came alittle slow on this update to a slim psp. yes i admit its a nice update, slimmer,faster,tv-out, but its pretty bad timming with ps3 slowly rising.

personally i think the ds is a better handheld than psp because ds offers something not given in its consoles, like dual screen and touch screen and mic. the psp pretty much offers everything the ps2 already has (internet usage for nba live and such, joystick, and pretty much everything). the only reason to get a psp is for portabilty (yea i know, hence the PORTABLE ps), but still, theres nothing unique about it.

yea psp does have some good games, better than ds too.

I for one didn't see too much need to change the design of the PSP. Yes, the TV out I hear people talking about seems nice, but with the resolution of the PSP (being less than 500 X 350), hooking it to a TV wouldn't accomplish too much...

The real joy in owning a PSP comes from HomeBrew software. Before I hacked my psp, it just say around. I had beaten all my games, and I was using it mostly as an MP3 player... But now that I've modded mine, I don't worry with waiting for game prices to drop or anything like that.

I'm pretty easy to please, so Sony shouldn't worry about the DS untill someone from Nintendo can give me everything I have modded onto my PSP:

eBook Reader
IR Keyboard Linkups
FTP Access and Server

Not to mention more downloaded games than I know what to do with. I'm beating these games at a rate of about 1 a week, taking my PSP everywhere I go. When I'm through, I just copy another ISO over to my PSP and start another game.

So on one hand, I feel a shade bad for sony who continues to lose profit... But on the other hand, they're already filthy stinkin' rich and their stock is doing well...

well the ds can already play homebrewed games WITHOUT haking or downgrading firmware, making it much easier. there is an SNES emulator, and also gb, gbc, nes, genesis, gamegear, and u can also play gba but ull need an expansion pack for the gba roms. you can watch videos with ds, view image, text files (ebook),music, there is also Doom, but im not sure if there is wolfenstien,but theres also online browser (sucks though),aim, msn, linux, thats all i can think of..

homebrew FTW!
i just bought apsp w/ Daxter & its awesome. the TV-out is nice but u lose Infrared port. i think $200 for DAX pak w/ 1GB memstick is the better deal.

the psp is i would have to say the best hand held device since the gameboy. Nintendo maybe winning the console battle but hand held gaming sony is a head in my book.

Well the PSP is capable of just about everything a home computer is, if you're willing to go through the trouble of getting it there. The list I provided was only the stuff I currently have on my PSP. I used to have 'Windows 2003 Small Business Server' on mine, but I had to get rid of it (which I didn't mind since I didn't use it much), but now I can't seem to find it again...

I've heard rumor before that you can run homebrew off the DS without modifications, but that seems shaky to me. The reason being is that company's lose a bit of profit at the hands of homebrew software and they typically will put an end to it rather quickly.

You used to be able to run homebrew off the older PSP firmwares without need for modification, but since there have been so many Sony Updates, both the the firmware and to the hardware of the PSP, there aren't many of us who still have that joy. Unfortunately, now the best option is to load up a custom firmware and get it all. But this has its own perks.

I've read somewhere that Sony is working on a touchscreen attachment that will snap on to the top of the PSP (using the port that the camera and USB uses) and cover the screen with a simple little frame. If someone finds the article that'd be nice.
